This seems like a pretty good idea. I found a Tokyo Marui G26 I'm tempted to grab because it seems to be a real close replica. Figure at worst, it's a fun way to plink at home, at best it gives me a good cheap training tool.

Anyone have experience with Tokyo G26 or a better G26 airsoft gun?

Idk if this is relevant as well but I've been following a dude that has been doing lots of dry fire drills using only airsoft guns (as he is from Japan, no guns there) and when we was finally put behind a real gun here in the U.S., he did very well. @likutactical. You might find it interesting, for what it's worth

whoops, someone posted it already above.

What's great with GBB pistols (or GBB rifles) is the report is loud enough to trigger an IPSC timer or phone App so you can get accurate timing for runs or splits as long as you keep the device near the shooter (eg. chest rig or arm band).

One of the best reasons to train with airsoft rifles or pistols is that you can safely train at home indoors, garage, or the backyard without damaging anything or endangering neighbors (unlike metal BB guns). It's nearly impossible to break window glass with an airsoft BB but always wear eye-pro because plastic BB's are bouncy and ricochet. GBB will put tiny dents in drywall or pine. Simple blanket or tarp is an effective backstop to capture spent rounds (loose BB's on hard floors are a slipping hazard).

Temperature. The gas mags need to be body temperature or hotter to get the full pressure. As you fire the mags get colder and drop pressure. Single-stack 1911 mags are especially prone to this because they're so thin so it's just something you'll need to live with for GBB 1911. In a way they're already CA accurate (haha).

In airsoft IPSC, everybody uses double-stack (Hi-Capa) 1911 guns because the sing-stack configuration simply won't hold enough gas pressure to compete vs double-stack guns. For airsoft action shooting competitions I switched to 1911 Hi-Capa or Glock platforms for that reason.

Ambiant temperature also plays a big role. If you're shooting in a hot climate (Hong Kong or Central CA Summer), both the refill tank and your mags will run longer. If you're in milder Northern CA or Winter, you will run dry early.

These two sentences contradict each other. And CO2 powered GBB will put more than "tiny" dents in drywall.

As I mentioned I can never get a full 21 rounds from the KWA 1911 single stack magazine. And yes I know about cold mags; this is even with the first charge on ambient temp (70 degrees plus) mags.

I guess the bottom line is the single stack GBB mags suck. Which is a pity.
