Not that I don't believe the Calaveras Sheriff's Dept, but the firearm ID description is sparse.

The deceased suspect in this case has been identified as John James Corrigan, 38 years old. The suspect has addresses in Chatsworth in Southern California and Mountain Ranch near the scene of the shooting. John James Corrigan was a registered sex offender and convicted felon. John Corrigan has arrests and a criminal history extending from Southern California up into the Central Valley of California. John Corrigan has previous arrests for 261 PC Rape, 11550 H&S Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, 23152 VC DUI and 415 PC Disturbing the Peace. As noted above, Mr. Corrigan was also convicted of 288 PC Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a Child Under 14 years of age in 2004.

It looks like it has a longer barrel and a paintball adapater on it at the very least.

Yes is a Drozed Blackbird with JimC aftermarket barrel as well as bulk fill male foster fitting. If this is the way it was found it would not be able to fire without air source.
