Maryland non-resident wear and carry permit

Like California, Maryland honors only its own CCW permits. Unlike California, they make it no harder for non-residents than residents. The procedure involves a 16 hour training and a live scan. The live scan must be performed in Maryland by a provider authorized by the Maryland State Police. The training, however, can be taken elsewhere provided the instructor has obtained authorization.

I discovered that Cal-Patriot Defense in Costa Mesa offers both the 16 hour initial and 8 hour renewal training. I took it last week and enjoyed both the classroom and range sessions. Next time I'm in Baltimore, I plan to go to Baltimore Fingerprinting which is right down town and looks easy to reach from the inner harbor.

Since I haven't completed the process, I can't report if all goes smoothly, but it's looking way more straightforward than it is here.

How long is your training valid for to apply? And if I had to go to Baltimore, I would carry too! You should also hit up Restaurante Tio Pepe if you are downtown (10 E Franklin St) but sadly have not been in over a decade.

It's good for two years. I'm heading to Baltimore in a few weeks, I'll do my fingerprinting there then can finalize the application

Good luck, but a lot of work to carry in such a small state 3,000 miles away, hopefully it's worth the effort and expense for you. And the real scam here is the requirement to physically provide fingerprints in Maryland, seriously? Just let me mail my FBI card ink rolled prints!
