Travel Check: CA to UT (Drive)

I'm driving to Zion National Park, UT and will be there for several days, and wanted to check with you guys that are knowledgeable about this, before I pack my firearm(s). On the way to UT I will be passing through NV.

I checked the reciprocity websites, and it indicates our CA CCW Permits are not recognized by NV, but recognized by UT.

It also states open carry is permitted in both NV and UT.

So my plan is as I'm driving through NV, I'll just have the firearm in plain view (like in a holster in the cupholder or something), and then I can put it away/concealed when I cross the border into UT.

Does this sound alright to you?

Not sure of your timeline, Get your AZ non-resident permit then you are covered in NV; you can use your CA permit as proof of shooting proficiency. My last permit was 3 weeks from renewal application to license in my mailbox.
My initial took about the same amount of time.

      This ^ for future travels.

But you can OC exposed or in glove box while driving through NV. Can conceal in UT.

In NV carry in your car is allowed (except loaded rifles) without CCW
