    Lake County OR permit

Put in my application yesterday. Super simple, but they still asked for a reason why I wanted the non-resident OR permit.

20 minutes in and out, no appt. Used my CA permit and NRA instructor certs as proof of training.

30 days to recieve my permit in the mail. Not AZ fast, that was 9 days for me, but not bad and well within their 45 day requirement

Nice timeline. Does Lake issue a paper laminated permit or card like AZ?

I will be getting either Klamath or Lake in my travels. Klamath told me they issue Paper Laminated. I prefer the card that AZ issues it fits in my wallet better than laminated cards.

Pretty sure every County in OR issues ID style CHL

I thought so too but a nice lady I spoke to in Klamath said it was paper and laminated.

I just did a renewal of my Lake County Oregon CHL last Thursday October 20, 2022.

For the renewal - it was walk in, fill out one page, have your photo taken, and pay your $75.00 dollars for another 4 years.

I was told that the LCSO are taking around 4 weeks for the "hard card" to arrive in my mailbox at this time...

I did get to talk to Sheriff Taylor briefly in the Lake County Courthouse hallway, and thanked him for issuing CHL's to residents of adjacent states.

The envelope with my Lake County CHL renewal was post marked on October 27th, and it was in my PO Box today October 31st. Much faster than what I was told at the Sheriff's Office front counter, as I posted above when I submitted my paperwork 11 days ago!

Plus they have changed the Lake County CHL lower background image to a patriotic flag, as compared to my previous Lake County Sheriff's Office CHL. I have been issued a new license number, but they kept my same expiration date - just 4 years later.

It's my favorite permit as well has the best design out of all 50 states.

Why only to adjacent states? That policy blows.

I ride my motorcycle all over the country and Oregon is a PITA because of this policy. I carry open on the bike most of the time, but when we stop for the night and hit a restaurant or something I generally prefer to conceal. They need to start honoring permits from other states for visitors.

Yup, the one and only downside to no longer being in CA...
