First, it's not advice, and it's certainly not advice for a nervous cop.

      But, for YOU?
      1. It's the law, and it's legal.
      2. Why are cops pulling YOU over?
      3. What is it about YOU that makes cops nervous?

To get a non resident enhanced Idaho permit you must have a permit from the state where you reside.

Unless you live in a handful crap counties you can get a CA one fairly easily these days.

True, and if you are willing to travel to Idaho and take the 8 hour class, it adds more states that any other state adds. Just to make it clear, it requires two trips. One for the class and a second trip to get your picture taken. In my case, now that I am an Idaho resident, I will loose CA but have gained CO, PA, SC & FL.

Just got my Virginia in 32 days all done online. My california CCW is pretty much a small piece of paper...the Virginia is a hard card that looks better then my drivers license.

What possible reason would anyone need to get an Idaho permit when so many other permits are recognized in Idaho and much easier to get through the mail such as Arizona and Utah?

                              1) The most reciprocity of any permit

                              2) For me it covers a state that I travel through a few times a year that no other "easy to get" permit covers and that state's non-res has limited reciprocity

                              3) it's a nice place to visit (hunt, fish, camp, shoot, etc) so why not get the permit while there
