Does Grant County, OR Sheriff's deputy still come to SoCal for CCW applications?

As the title says, do you know if the Grant County, OR Sheriff's deputy still comes to SoCal to accept CCW applications for OR? The time for renewal is coming up, and going to Oregon is a bit far right now.

    Thanks,

    nick

P.S.: never mind, this is from their site. Whatever happened there?

We have suspended our non-resident CHL program indefinitely. If you live in a contiguous state and are seeking a renewal or a new application, you can contact another Oregon sheriff that may accommodate.
So, the next question is: do you know which Oregon Sheriffs do non-resident renewals?

The Sherrif in Klamath Falls Oregon does.

He doesn't come to you, but his office has staff that processes non-resident applications by reservation.

    That's where mine is from.

Thank you!If you don't mind me asking, how old is your info? I checked Klamath County Sheriff's site last night, and it states that a non-resident needs a reason to be considered for a CHL.

Applied August 2016 - received permit in January 2017.

I used my same good cause for Orange County, but I feel like it was not necessary.

Also worth noting: the Grant County Sherriff changed his non-resident ccw policy a few years back stating that he has suspended his non-resident ccw permit program indefinitely. I have not heard any updates suggesting that it has been reinstated, but I haven't actively looked in to it.

Probably a new Sheriff in town.

Pretty crappy thing to happen after we contributed to purchase the Livescan equipment.
Double crappy if it's the same Sheriff.

Short answer, The deputy who was doing us this huge favor of accepting applications while he was here in California was not able to come down one season. Some genius (One of us) Called his boss the Sheriff and threatened to sue.

                  Sheriff said no more Californians.

Klamath is GTG but Oregon law requires applications to be taken in person so you need to go there and you need to make an appointment.

Klamath will except a CA CCW as meeting the training requirements. If I remember right they need a letter stating how often you come to Oregon, Purpose, business or pleasure and reason for needing a LTC.

                      Traveling in remote areas worked.

Appointment isn't really an interview as much as filling out the application and being fingerprinted. Staff in Klamath are great if your not a jerk.

So CalGunners sue out of state LEOs who are trying to help CA gun owners. So they shut out CA gun owners.

And then we ***** about out of state vendors who refuse to ship to CA because they have be sued or received threats of being sued by CA Libs for shipping stuff to CA, and some suggest we should sue them for not selling to us.

Is it any wonder why a lot of non-CA folks dislike dealing with CA? Like border state gun stores posting signs about 'no sales to californians' (recent thread).

Obviously it only took one moron to get us banned from Grant Co non-res permits. But a lot of us are a bit obnoxious and pile on that, legal threats from Libs, it's hard to blame out of state vendors, sheriffs and gun owners for not having high opinions of CA.

Well, isn't that nice (on the genius). I go to Oregon every now and then anyway, and my CHL is good until Sep., so it should be good. Gonna give Klamath County Sheriff's office a call next week.

It's still Sheriff Glenn Palmer who really went out of his way to support us and non-residents from the other 3 states to obtain Oregon CHL's much easier. Calguns facilitated this by having many here donate to purchase a livescan for the Sheriff as his tiny rural department simply did not have the budget for one.

At some point Sheriff Palmer suddenly stopped issuing non-resident CHL's and IIRC, there was a member here who actually spoke at length with the good Sheriff who was exasperated that he actually WAS sued about this entire operation, so he stopped. Such legal action was simply too big a burden for his tiny department.

Sheriff Palmer was re-elected last November to his fourth term as Sheriff, however if you read both articles I posted, it looks like the libtards are after him now in full on Trumpian derangement style.

And I am sure this also did not help our CHL cause:

In May, The Oregonian/OregonLive sued Palmer and his office after he ignored or declined several requests for records dating to February. That included police reports, cellphone records, emails, his calendar and records of handgun licenses. Oregon law generally makes such material open to the public.
