Idaho Enhanced Training - Coeur D'Alene

Does anyone have any experience with trainers in N. Idaho, particularly in or around Coeur D'Alene? I want to apply for my Enhanced Idaho Permit that requires an 8 hr. class, including instruction by a member the the Idaho bar or an Idaho LEO with a certain level of experience. This pretty much dictates that the training take place in Idaho. Because my brother lives near Coeur D'Alene, I would like to take the training the next time I visit him.

I moved to CDA (Post Falls) a couple months ago and joined the local range. It's about 5 minutes from my house. Have to say I'm fairly impressed, but haven't taken any classes yet.

For the time being I'm going to stick with permit less constitutional carry, but there are advantages to the ID enhanced. Unfortunately that means I can't carry 15 minutes away in Spokane where it's a lot more likely to be needed.

Since I have not taken the course, I won't specifically recommend the range for that, but virtually all the staff is prior leo. They are also quite busy and offer many courses.

Here's the website. They are very busy and courses sell out well in advance, so a phone call might be in order.

If you make it up there drop me a line.

Thanks for the reply. This is just what I was looking for. My Brother lives in Post Falls and my cousin lives in Coeur D'Alene. So when I come to visit I will drop you a line. It appears that Center Target Sports is only about 5 to 6 miles from their homes. I do not technically need an Idaho permit because I have CA, NV, OR and UT permits which allow me to carry in ID and WA. But, because the reciprocity laws changes all the time, I want to be prepared for possible changes and an enhanced ID permit would cover what my NV and UT permits cover. From what I see, WA should be relatively east to get and the costs seems low, so you might want to consider that if you travel to Spokane very often. You might want to check with the Spokane PD, as I understand that they are the ones that issue permits for the county. Anyway, thanks again.

I'll have to double check but I was told WA only recognizes the ID enhanced. And if you're tromping around in the trees it's easy to be in either WA or MT without realizing it.

Also, I had forgotten what a real gun show is. After decades of seeing only Beanie babies and beef jerky at CA shows, it was great to walk out of a show with a new toy for cash. Better start saving for your move. ;-)

That looks correct about WA & ID but it appears that WA will issue non resident permits. It also looks like a non resident WA permit would be good in MT.

Not the mention the transactions that take place in the parking lot that nobody cares about.

Usually you can find out from the local Sheriff or LE dept. In most counties the LE portion is free.

Well I am signed up for an enhanced (8hr) class in Post Falls (Center Target Sports) on Apr. 15. Plan to have a beer with tpuig while I am in the area. Will report back.

                Reporting back.
Was a great class. Ed Santos is a great instructor. Had that beer with tpuig. Only problem is that in Kootenai County it takes two appearances and they limit the times and days for these appearances. First appearance is to file the application, provide proof of course completion, fingerprints and pay fee ($60 for 5 years). You also need to show your permit from your state of residence. Second appearance is to be photographed after background check is approved. Because Spokane, WA is about 30 minutes away, I stopped by the Spokane PD to add WA so I will not need to rely on reciprocity.

I submitted my Enhanced Idaho application on April 19, 2017 and got the approval letter in today's mail. That' 6 weeks.
