    I'll play.....

Sig P239 40 sw and sig 1911 with sig slide cut.

Both using TT Gun leather reinforced IWB holsters. The 'reinforced' has a small kydex liner at the mouth which keeps the holster open so 1 handed reholstering is easy.

These are all handmade by a small family owned business here in California, and they are works of art. I ordered an AIWB from Tim (TT is short for Tim Thurner) and the AIWB simply doesnt work for me. He made me a new holster and made it a priority. His normal wait time is about 6 weeks. Great guy, great customer service- he knows his stuff, and his craft. I'm very pleased with his products. Makes me wish I lived in a state that allowed open carry, and I'd get a fancy shark skin belt and matching holster from him....

I also have an IWB single mag carrier shown in the pics.

I've had and used the sig P239 holster in warm weather and used it exclusively up until last night (dec 24) when my new 1911 holster showed up, and have tried it out for a day.

Understand that I'm very tall and skinny. 5'-11" about 140 pounds and a 30" waist. I dont have much belt space to hide stuff......

I have no problem with a full size 1911 with a flannel overshirt in cool weather, and need to check the mirror a little more, but I think I can do it in summer with a short sleeved button up just fine- Always be mindful of bending over at the waist..... Even a full size 1911 and spare mag have been comfortable all day today- sitting, driving and standing. The weight isnt even an issue with a decent belt.

Pic of the 'front'- Notice both holsters cover the trigger, but leave the rear part of the trigger guard exposed. There's been a recent thread about carry holsters and having to draw and shift your grip. Both of these holsters, I can get a FULL correct grip including middle finger high into the trigger guard before pulling the gun from the holster, but the trigger itself is covered.

    Pic of the back

Pic wearing the 1911 and mag holder. (I'm a righty... the mirror flipped the image) The butt of the gun sits tight against the hollow in my lower back with a good belt (I use hanks amish belt) Just noticed in the pic I missed the middle belt loop with the belt... I took everything off for the pics of the holsters, and threw it back on real quick for a pic wearing it.....

I am new at this- only had my permit since Oct 1, and carry EVERY DAY EVERY WHERE since- even at home.

I do not expect to have a drawer full of holsters since I started out with quality stuff that works from the beginning. Check out TT Gun leather, and call Tim if you have any questions. Great guy to do business with.

Either loosen the fit of your shield holster by putting the gun in a thick plastic bag - like 5 mil.... and leave it in the holster a few days. Then draw/holster with the bag for an evening. (a heavy duty freezer zip lock bag might work, but it's thin compared to a 5 mil)

Or you could use wax paper around the gun.

I had to shape a generic 1911 holster to a sig slide cut 1911 for action pistol/IDPA several years ago using a thick plastic bag and small dabs of water with a q tip to convince the holster to accept a sig cut slide. It took several days.

Went out on some errands and decided to try to use my 5.11 Tactical Vest.

Well, it has tons of pockets and you can carry just about everything in it. HOWEVER, carrying a full-sized 1911 in the holster pocket was very bulky, uncomfortable, and could cause serious accessability issues if you needed your carry weapon in a hurry. I'm sure in a more purely "tactical" environment, the 5.11 vest would give great service. Or perhaps if I had carried a more compact gun.....like my S&W 442 or Ruger LCP. But, as a CCW platform for a full-sized firearm.....nothing but zeros from me.

On a more positive note. I routinely carry the 1911 as my EDC. Hiding such a large-framed gun can be a challenge. But this holster:

A Safariland Model 27 Inside-The-Waistband holster, has worked EXTREMELY well. Even for guys like me that have a "little" extra waist..... Very comfortable, even if carried at the 3 o'clock position. It has a Kydex mouth liner so you can reholster your gun without taking the holster out of your pants. Two thumbs up on this one.

I've have a Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe for my Glock 19. I've been using that setup daily since I was issued the permit back in September... so roughly four months of every day use.

It's a very comfortable holster and works for my daily routine which is driving to different locations, and performing office type tasks while seated. It hides well both in the summer and now in the winter at the 3 o'clock position. I usually wear either a t-shirt, polo shirt, or button down shirt all of which are long enough and loose enough to provide coverage.

My only complaint is that the horse hide tends to creak quite a bit as you move around. My wife even commented on it a couple of times. The problem was solved by attaching the soft side of velcro strips on the inside of the belt clips where they touch the belt.

I also have the same holster for my Shield although it doesn't see much action.

I experimented for a while with magazine holsters. I tried belt attached, loose carry in the front pocket, and even a Leatherman pouch. Nothing seemed to do the trick until I discovered the Remora holster. It breaks up the outline of my G19 magazine well and looks like a wallet in my back pocket.

I use the TT gun leather IWB mag carrier. It's comfortable, but you know it's there. It almost feels like a back brace the way it forms around your hip. It's slim and fits against your body so hiding it is never an issue-

I started with a pouch like leatherman but I cant stand it.

Sorry, no pics yet, but I've been carrying my lcp in a DeSantis summer heat iwb. Tried carrying appendix at first, but this was very uncomfortable for me. I've settled on 4 o'clock, and find that I don't notice this at all. The holster allows for plenty of cant so that I can have the lcp tilted just right for me. I can see this holster working in the appendix position for someone with not as much gut as I have. The gun does sit kind of high, but this is why I bought this holster, as my previous holster put the grip half way in my pants which made it difficult to remove.

I also have alien gear cloak tuck 2.0 for a Nano and lc380, which I will review once I decide on my carry ammo for these two.

It's N82 tactical for me. I carry a G30s, I'm slim build and this is by far the most comfortable holster that I own and I own a lot. I bought the professional series without reading too much and was freaked out the first time I put it on and could not get the gun out of the holster. I almost called to complain and then I read the little paper that comes with it. It's a level 2 retention. You twist a little to get it to release. Not sure I was going to like it at first, but now it's all I wear.

I have heard good things about N82. How much do they run? I have two other guns I need to get holsters for, possibly three more and I don't think I can afford four Crossbreeds so I am looking for other options.

Having just received my CCW, I am watching this thread with interest. I appreciate the honest detailed descriptions from you guys.

Like Postal above, one of my carry pieces is a P239, the others being a LCP and a Colt dick special. A CG board member made me a custom leather OWB rig a couple of years ago for my P239. I have used it a few times while out of state and have never been outed. I would however like to find a couple of different options to make things a little more versatile.

That's the problem with holsters, too many choices. Just keep reading reviews, borrow or try a friends out if they will let you. You'll get there eventually.
