Appendix Carry: How Ive recently been doing it.

A recent AD by police with a Sig 320 has me carrying my P365 at 3 o'clock just in case.

This doesnt work to well for me when I sitting down at restaurants. My shirt tends to creep up and expose the grip. No bueno.

I tried carrying my old CZ Rami with a hammer so I can carry appendix again. But then, the Rami is pretty big.

Im making do with this weird arrangement where its turned 45 degrees. Its not for drawing but more to get it out of my groin when Im sitting down, and to prevent the grip from printing too much.

This is how the clip is set up.

I place it a little to the right of center, with the hammer under my belly button and the grip on my abdomen,

And it hides from view pretty good.

Any advise welcome. I feel a little better having a hammer fired handgun that a striker on in appendix, for now.

A purpose built AIWB rig may be helpful. A holster with a wing and/or a claw can really help to push the grip in close to your body-line so that it doesn't print...especially with larger framed weapons. A pad on the bottom can also help with this (pushing the grip in) as well as adding comfort so it's not stabbing you. To that end, a holster that is carry height adjustable may be beneficial. Moving the holster up or down a bit may enable you to find the sweet spot where it doesn't stab into you...as much.

Get a holster with two clips or the mono clip. That’s a lot of cant but if it doesn’t affect your draw, go for it.

+1 on the claw. That may alleviate some issues.

Recently talked to a buddy of mine because I had a similar issue. I carry a 365 x macro with red dot and claw attachment. He suggested placing the belt buckle one loop over. I'm right handed so I place my buckle on my 10 o'clock. Now I have 12 to 3 o'clock free to use.

+1 for adding a claw to your rig

Why not get the safety for the P365 and carry it the way you used to? The weird grip angle will slow you down more than flipping the safety, unless I am missing something from your post.

That looks like a vedder light tuck. If so, I have an extra claw attachment that you can have for free. There is some DIY involved in adding it to your holster but nothing too complicated. I am not sure if I still have the template, but I can check. PM me your shipping info and I can stick it in the mail tomorrow.

Vedder's holster claw is a great addition to your standard LightTuck holster. The Claw pulls your frame closer to reduce the print when carrying. Get yours now!

Watch this video tutorial for step-by-step instructions on how to specifically attach the claw to your existing LightTuck holsters.

Also, from the looks of your holster, it seems you already have the 2nd hole for the claw to seat into. If that is the case, then you dont need the template. Just a longer retention screw.

There are millions of P365 and P320 that are carried by civ and leo with no issue. Of the few recent AD incidents, several were clearly due to the cop pulling the trigger or using an improper holster than pulled the trigger.

Keep in mind when these supposed issues occur, it becomes an automatic deflection of blame for everyone who makes a mistake.

You just have to adjust the ride height for longer barrels, having the grip higher up on your stomach. However this may not be an option for the overweight.

                  I almost exclusively carry appendix.

I carry small to large weapons. Sig p938, 1911 commander and Sig 226.

Sometimes I feel a little pressure or discomfort if I'm trying to bend over.

                  I use tier1 holsters. I know they're pricey but they're worth it.

A holster purpose built for appendix carry might be your best bet.

The key is a proper AIWB holster. Slide belt buckle one belt loop over toward weak side, so that your pistol/holster aren?t pushing out the buckle looking funky. If you?re concerned about the safety, just add the safety feature to your pistol, although I do think the NDs that have happened can be attributed to shotty holsters or negligence of holstering

My P365 sits in the same style of holster as you have, vertical, one belt loop off set from center to my strong side. Depending on the pants loop placement, the clip may be between my belt buckle and the loop, on other pairs, the clip will be just the other side of the belt loop.

I did install the manual safety ($50 from Sig) and a new grip body already cut for the manual safety (I tried the Wilson Combat, and liked it $50)

And then hundreds practice draw and dry-fire just to get the safety off to be muscle memory (trained and carried a Glock for too many years).

Ratchet belts make aiwb life and meal time easier, not to mention while driving. I’m probably the only one who adjust the muzzle ride depth while seated since poke and print isn’t as critical as long as your grip doesn’t make it past the cover of your clothing

I’ve tried both kore and next belt styles, as well as cheaper non stiff ratcheting and both worked well.

I'm exclusively AIWB w hammer fired decockers, including a Rami. I use Vedder light tucks w a wing - definitely keeps the pistol tighter to my body. I vary between a ratchet belt and a Vedder belt. I typically cover up w just a black XLT t-shirt. The extra length keeps all hidden even when reaching, although I do have to ensure I'm not sitting on the t-shirt when I sit down in the car or a chair.
                          I'm 6-4, 195 lbs.

                          Good luck!
