my theory on iwb holsters and printing

i think the reason most iwb holsters print other than extreme outlier body types is due to belt being too loose and the holster design tilting the gun out at the top.

a lot of people don't want a wedge or something to push the bottom of the holster out, and thus tilt the top of the holster in because they think it will impede their draw. however my hypothesis is that having the handle tilted in towards the body actually peels the bottom or front of the grip away from the body giving you more room to curl your fingers around the grip.

the flip side to this is that when drawing, you most likely will have to lean towards the opposite direction of the gun's position on your body to allow clearance for the gun.

Wedges can actually aid in comfort if they are of the padded variety.

But they can be a bit of a mixed bag. They can push the bottom/front of the grip away from the body as you said...which helps getting your fingers around the grip...but they can push the top of the grip into the body making it harder to get your thumb around the grip. So there may be a "sweet spot" with respect to the size of the wedgy wedge.

The printing problem I seem to have is my t-shirt clinging to the grip a bit, at times. But I carry a 4.25" M&P and their grips are pretty sticky.

This is primarily an issue in the appendix position and shorter guns that are more grip heavy. A wedge or a claw (sometimes both) will help both with the concealability and the comfort. Some trial and error will be needed to find your idea position and how much tilt you create with the wedge and claws. Also, with more people using RDS on their guns, that's additonal bulk and weight that has to be dealt with when carrying iwb.
