Kinda like a garand versus a Mg42. They’re both guns but that’s about it. The next belt ratchets and can be adjusted to within 1/2” increments and the gun belts having extra heavy duty materials and fastening systems.

While I love buffalo hide I love being comfortable around my burgeoning belly more so. The best of all worlds would be a buffalo hide strap with a ratchet system. Old belt operations are definitely not as comfortable.
