This $30 Gun Belt will be used as a regular belt for casual (non dress) wear and rarely to hold a Sig P229 in an Alien Gear 3.0 Cloak Tuck IWB holster. Am I throwing my money away. I like a webbed belt, but don't want to scream tactiical.

Chewy65, you probably don't need a specific gun belt for the gun holster combination you have. What about your current belts do you not like? This $30 Gun Belt will be used as a regular belt for casual (non dress) wear and rarely to hold a Sig P229 in an Alien Gear 3.0 Cloak Tuck IWB holster. Thanks, Grantar. You probably thought that I already had a gun belt and wanted something else. I don't have anything other than thin dress belts and one 1.5" wide Ralph Lauren belt made from very thin leather. The alien gear, which is due to be delivered today, is my first holster and whatever I get will be my first gun beltComment

Don't know anything about your chosen holster, but if you are going conceal carry, you need a suitable, quality belt. From the specs, it looks fine. The price is pretty good if the quality turns out to be equal to what their website espouses. For the price, its worth checking it out.
If you do get it, order it with the Chicago screws option, rather than the snaps. They'll be much more secure.Comment

The Alien Gear holster will want a wider belt with most the clips they have. As a former Alien Gear dealer, I am very familiar with the holster. A quality leather or biothane belt whether made for guns or not will work, mostly because the Alien Gear will spread the weight to your core by virtue of the neoprean backing (can be annoying moving your underwear as you walk) and the dual clips will spread the load on the belt. I am really surprised that Alien Gear didn't offer you a sale price on their own line of belts when you purchased the holster. It's more than most need with the steel core but given their habit of adding on offers it would have normally been in the $30-$40 dollar range.
I hear a lot about belts and they certainly have their place, but having outfitted everyone from VIP Security details, FBI, Police, Gang Task Force units, a lot of doctors, laywers, etc a lot of the belt info is old school and overblown.
OWB is much different from IWB, and it varies with gun somewhat. If I have a client wearing a Hugo Boss or Armani Suit (and I do) I am not putting a Hank's Amish belt on him. You can get belts that reflect your sense of style and brand.
The fact is that if I switched out the clips on your Alien Gear to Ulti-Clips the belts you have would be fine. Avoid getting a belt that is too stiff. I have shared university and law enforcement research that have show the preponderance of back injuries to those who carry professionally come from the belt. (Irritates the nerve stack that runs up the leg at the hip, and manifests itself has pain in the low back and inside knee).
If all your carrying is a Sig P226, your belts main role will be securing the holster in the vertical so it doesn't slip up and down, and it is thick enough to keep the plastic clips from sliding over it when you yank your gun out of the holster.
Now as you already know I own and run a concealed carry store in Lake Forest. All I do is CCW. This stuff is not an add on sale. If your going to buy one belt I highly suggest you look at a couple of the brands I carry. Go directly to their website, you can buy from them that's cool.
If you wear suits, check out Nexbelt. (They are my favorite day to day). If your into outdoors, construction, mechanic checkout Daltech Force. Daltech is a hidden gem. A lot of the belts people rave about are produced by Daltech they are in Indiana. The belts used for characters and employees at Universal and Disneyland, many are produced by Daltech. Bull Belt, SuperBio and others are produced by Daltech. When I am spending a week at Front Sight, shooting multi gun competition where I have a large number of mags full size guns I like that Super Bio belt. Plus if I have to tow my truck out I can, it's that strong and you can soak in oil without damage.
So there are a number of answers.
I carry Nexbelt because the meet 90% of all requirements for my clients in So. Cal, I source Daltech by special order because they are able to meet the other needs for clients usually operators. They surprisingly aren't expensive. They are U.S. made.Last edited by grantar2; 08-21-2017, 3:07 PM.Comment

Thanks, Grantar. It isn't quite as large as a p226. It's a 229. For now I won't even carry extra magazines on the belt. The holster is supposedly going to be delivered within the next couple of hours, but there is a mess at USPS today. When I get it, I may give you a call if it is worth your time to meet up at Artemis just to sell a belt. I actually talked with you a while back at the other shop. You are right an Alien Gear wanted to give me a deal on a belt ordered along with the holster. It was $45 instead of $60 for a belt leather belt that a lot of folk didn't like too well. Since I want to size the belt to the holster and to me, I thought I may be better off getting the holster and figuring out what size belt to use.Comment

I have found both good comfort and low-profile style in the Kore gun belt line.
The ratchet style adjusts easily to different pants and shorts with different waistline heights as well as holster/pistols of different thicknesses.
With a modern IWB they are secure, discrete (they don't scream tactical) while making an excellent foundation for your CCW rig.
IMHO, gun belts are required for stable weapon carry and presentation...
Kore concealed carry gun belts deliver superior rigidity and comfort for your EDC. Ratcheting & cut-to-size gun belts that keep your CCW comfortable and secure.
I wear them daily so there is no need to change belts when sliding and IWB into you waistband.Real Californian...Comment

Hi Chewy,
I don't know about your belt either. Looks OK though, I might try it. I've paid more for less.
My favorite gunbelt right now is the Real Man's gun belt from Simply Rugged. It is more expensive at $50, but not THAT much more expensive.
But it's good. Easily holds a full size revolver in a high ride pancake style holster. So it's GTG for whatever you want.
But it is NOT a thin dress belt.Comment

Received the $30 Gun Belt
No. It's not a thin dress belt.
I just received the belt and so far it looks to be everything its maker claimed it to be. I am now experimenting with various permutations of how to wear it with my almost as new Alien Gear 3.0 Cloak Tuck Holster and my P229 Enhanced Elite.
It is a thick leather belt and I cannot imagine needing a stiffer one for my purposes. In fact, I had spoken with grantar2 about the need for a stiff belt to carry the P229 in an AG 3.0 IWB and Grantar2, rather than try to sell me one of the belts he sells, told me to experiment with an inexpensive one from a place like Kohls, Target, or WalMart. Since the "$30 gun belt" was just about as inexpensive, I just went with it.
So far the worst issue isn't so much due to the belt or the holster, but the gun on my frame. For those of you that do not know, the P229 E.E. and some Sigs have a large Beavertail. Mine tends to print with some shirts, where a standard P229 may not. Now I see the advantage in the single stack p239 with a 3.5" barrel, no rail, reduced snag, bobbed hammer, and no beavertail. It also doesn't have a California LCI last I looked.Last edited by Chewy65; 09-03-2017, 12:58 PM.Comment

Yep. The only difference is that shipping is $1 less on ebay, but it's the same belt from the same outfit. I ordered it for the extra $1 because for some reason the brown distressed belt showed out of stock on ebay but not on the online store.Comment
