    Thumb Lever holster LH

    Hey guys,

Looking for a thumb lever release holster for a sig p226 in left hand. All the ones I've seen are RH only. Am I SOL or can someone point me in the right direction?

    IWB or OWB?

Check out the Safariland 578 GLS for OWB, left handed, thumb release Around $55. Very nicely made. We don't carry much in the way of OWB at Packin' Fur Defense, but there are volume Safariland dealers on line you can get to.

The Model 578 GLS™ Pro-Fit brings the unique GLS™ (Grip Lock System) and SafariSeven™ together in a holster designed to fit a wide variety of guns. The Pro-Fit™ is customizable and adjusts to securely fit over 225 firearms. The 578 also features the GLS™, an innovative technology that automatically secures the weapon w

Do you like the design or the price. Of course if you need a lefty it and they don't make one it doesn't matter.

I personally don't like my weapon exposed as much as this is doing especially around the trigger area.

But my question is what is driving your requirement for a level 2 retention holster. Most training organizations don't want you bringing a retention holster. If you live somewhere with open carry, or you have a security job where you are carrying open the added retention makes sense, but I wouldn't want to leave my gun open to being banged around, especially my sights like that one does. What you can say is that Forbus makes a product that will last.

I have the safariland 578 gls and I like it a lot. To me it's very natural to draw. It's not a thumb release. You use the side of your middle finger to hit the lever as you grip the gun.

The reason I want an OWB is for our camping trips to the Nevada Desert. I have a ccw in CA and use an IWB, but thought the increased comfort would be a plus in an open carry setting. The reason for retention is simy because I've never used an OWB and I'm not sure about how much activity they can handle before a fall out is a concern.

Also, I liked the thumb lever because I was reading about the possibility of a negligent discharge with the serpa style retention holsters.
