One solution for the daily Pants vs Pistol fight

Probably like a lot of CCWers out there, certain guns only match certain pants for it to fit and be comfortable. It's almost a daily fight for me.

I was shopping around today looking for some pants that would fit just right, no matter what: with gun, without gun, with single stack pistol or double stack pistol.

I was at Costco and bought 2 pair of these Buffalo/David Bitton jeans.

I bought my usual size - the same size I would wear without a gun or maybe just enough to fit a Single Stack. Normally, for double stack, I have to use one pant size larger.

I got home and tried them on. They are jeans but made of some material that stretches slightly (98% Cotton, 2% Elastane). I liked how it felt right away. Super comfortable. Pretty stylish too. But the best part? Since the material is somewhat stretchable, my Double Stack Holster and Pistols fit comfortable too.

Kind of a Eureka moment ... "why didn't I think about this before" - some stretchable material that will accommodate the thickness of 2x Stack and even the thicker leather holster, but still fits even without it.

More good news... this is a popular brand and at the Department store these jeans sell for over $100 each. But at Costco... it's $25!! I'm going to try these for a couple of weeks and buy a couple more different colors (they have Blue, Black, Dark Gray, and Khaki) ... hopefully to bring my daily pants vs pistol wars to an end. I'm even ready to donate all my old jeans to Goodwill.

Give it a try, it might work for you. Hope that helps.

Actually I find that most people pants fit just fine when carrying IWB if they are fitted with the right holster and they aren't trying to carry an AR-15 pistol.

But there are dozens of pants out there really targeting the slightly older or less fit that have some elastic in the waistband, or "Relaxed Fit"

Glad you found something you like.

Would be curious what kind of gun your trying to conceal and what your carrying it it?

The 3 pistols I have on my permit are:

      - Ruger LC9-S (9mm Single Stack)
      - HK USP-Compact (9mm Double)
      - Daniel Defense MK 18 AR Pistol (30rds Double stack, 5.56mm)

Just kidding on the last one

The real last one is an HK45C (.45acp Double Stack)

I have over a dozen holsters in my drawer, my favorite for the Double Stacks are the firearmholster.com hybrids whose belt clips I swapped for plastic ones - In fact, I bought 2 of those holsters from your shop!

I wear jeans daily and I have 2 sizes, 32 and 34. The Double stacks do not fit in the 32 size jeans.

I will usually use the 32 size and carry my single stack for day time. At night, I like bringing one of the HK's, but that often means I have to change pants, and I hate it when I have to do that. The new jeans I found at Costco have become a welcome solution.

5.11 Stryke pant. They have a 1-2 inch expandable panel on each side of the waist. One pair of pants will serve you just fine regardless of whether you're carrying or not. They are, of course, not the most subtle pant out there. Quality is good though but you'll pay for it.

Combined with a ratchet style belt you can find comfortable carry pants suitable for daily wear and driving.

I found elastic waistband shorts work great with my Kore carry belt, as I blouse my shirt over them anyway.

Expandable waistband pants are less suitable, unless they conceal the elastic internally.

5.11 pants may telegraph carry to some, however that may not be your worst alternative given their function.

I have found that Dockers have one series with an elastic waist. I think they are the pleated front model in a looser cut. That style also has a large front pocket that I can carry my shield in a pocket holster if needed. Available in many different colors. I bought mine at Macy's but I would imagine they are available elsewhere.
