    Appendix Carry

Does anyone have a reccommendation for a GOOD IWB holster for appendix carry? My every day carry is a Sig P239.

Thanks in adavance for any input.

I had a Crossbreed appendix and did not like it. I settled on a crossbreed supertuck at 3 o'clock.

I carry a kydex holster that has a large amount of cant adjustment and is depth adjustable as well so you can carry appendix or move it to other locations. They are made for me by Cooks, in Georgia.

It really depends on what your looking for. There are a half dozen solutions available depending on your clothing style, body type, if you want to carry spare mags, etc.

If you can provide some info on build, dress i.e. causal, formal, tucked shirts untucked shirts. etc. Do you drive much, or are you in a sitting or standing environment most often. The variables make a difference in carry method.

If you want to chat on the subject feel free to call me or PM me.

Did you see this thread that is fairly current...I have comments in it and it's easier to just point you to it than type it out again.

I have been very happy with Vedder. Now use for all 3. Service is great. Love the 1.5" clip & it fits belt perfectly. Cant and ride-height adjustable. Ride-height adjustment process wasn't obvious and now at medium depth I love them even more.

There are a number of good carry solutions depending on what your body build is, what your clothing style is, and where on centerline your really going to stage the gun. It also assumes that you understand the weakness of appendix or centerline carry, and whether that will fit with your lifestyle.

If your in Orange County as you coming and going and want to stop by the shop we can show you and have your try on a couple of options.

I personally like the single clip kydex holsters that are made for me and can be seen on our website. They cover the entire weapon with a soft texture kyde, are depth adjustable, infinitely cant adjustable and of course the draw tension is adjustable. However there are more ways to carry. Belly bands are great in that you can easily wear them whether your style is casual or formal. You have defined the gun, but not your style, or body type, so any specific recommendation is just ball park.

I sure am curious as to why you constantly bag on appendix carry? Seems any time someone mentions it you have something bad to say about and I would like to know why?

It is a very viable carry method and actually puts the firearm in a great position with easy access. Not all of us like a gun stuck behind us.

I don't bag on appendix carry, it's a great place to carry for some people, as long as they know the techniques and risks. By risk I don't mean shooting your femoral artery or even you junk. There are some other serious issues with the carry location.

Appendix carry is holster sensitive and in my opinion is one of those things like running shoes you should try before you move forward. They can also be gun sensitive, when you have seen people try to appendix a full size 1911 or Beretta 92 you have to ask some questions.

If the guy has a gut like Santa Clause he is going to have trouble drawing well sitting. You will notice I almost always ask about body type.

If he is a driver professionally his risk of sever soft tissue and intestinal damage is significant in moderate to sever car accidents, which are more probable than having to draw the weapon. A lot of LEO's that carry a back up will carry it appendix, but they often don't wear seat belts policy not withstanding. Bill Murphy at FTA can tell you about almost losing his intestines to appendix carry due to ulceration.

From a positive stand point Appendix requires you to do do no more than defend the area between your shoulders, which is key, you can shoot from retention. You only have problems accessing your gun if your on your stomach, but you also have to be in shape for it.

Appendix is far better place to carry than 5 or 6. So no I am not bagging on it, I am addressing issues that have to be considered. Unlike a lot of people who sell holsters I don't make anything I sell. I have some items special made to my specifications, but the reason I don't manufacture is because I don't want my hammer to be the answer to every nail. I look at a persons needs, weapon, style, build, and offer the strength of weakness for each type of carry. Perhaps over stating it a bit, but I like to help the person walk through a requirements, and select a system that will work for them so they don't end up with the shoe box full of holsters.

Like every carry position, and carry type they have their place. The question one has to ask is why that position, be it 12, 3, 6, 9, shoulder, ankle, thigh, jacket, backpack, briefcase, etc. If you can articulate why it works for you, and you train for it in likely condition, one hand draw, offhand, sitting, kneeling, running, then cool.

By the way the one carry position I do bag on is behind you, in most cases it's your worst option.

Okay I get ya, it just seems that every time I see you post in a thread talking about appendix you come off as trying talk people out of it. Could simply be the whole text thing. I myself do have a little bit of a belly and do not carry at a true 12 o'clock position more like In between 12 and 1 o'clock positions as that is what works best for me. I agree with you 100% with the rear position being terrible.

I am pretty much a jeans and tshirt guy and appendix allows me to carry without having to modify wardrobe, I also have some range of motion issues in my shoulders which also makes appendix perfect for me. I can do pretty much any task I would normally do with maybe a slight modification in how I perform the task but for me it's no big deal as I have been adjusting most of my adult life to make things work.
