New Off Body CCW Option - Thoughts?

Saw this on FB yesterday and I thought it was, well... interesting. What do you all think?

Basically its a bag from "Progressive Force" (no affiliation) designed all around off body carry for CCW. But this isn't just a standard tacticool bag with a hidden compartment. It seems to have been made from the ground up around, and solely for, carrying a gun. It has a quick detach opening system that pulls the front of the bag open where your gun sits in a kydex holster ready to go. It has some velcro in the bottom section for "CCW" or "Police" patches to apparently let people know you are not the bad guy (you probably could fit a mag or two in there too)

But here's the kicker. both sides of the bag have a spare compartment with a bullet proof plate (can't remember the plate's rating), and if time allows, the bag strap cant be shifted to around your head so the armor protects your chest, and gut/groin area.

My opinion? I think it will probably fit a niche market, and I can see the use of it. I am not a proponent of off body carry personally, but that is only because I have a bad habit of setting things down and forgetting about them, so I don't want to put myself in a really bad position. If you know that you would never leave the bag somewhere then good for you and go for it

    What do you all think?

Their marketing is a bit off. That guy is all bundled up and could easily conceal under that flannel.

Put him in a t shirt and shorts, and it's clearer what the advantage is.

            Murse. No thanks.

And the STP patch is not helping it look more "manly".
            Sorry, not sorry.

That's funny I was thinking the same exact thing. Show the guy walking down a beach, or standing in the hot sun in Arizona or something hahahaha

OP there is a place for this kind of bag. Others such as 5.11 and Roma offer similar bags. They usually have fabric holsters that Velcro in. The high priced versions offer a plate of body armor.

There is a small market for them. I have sold a couple. They can be useful for a person who cannot carry on body at work, who brings the bag in and has it at the desk, office. I personally prefer concealed carry briefcase at the point.

The armored versions are often sold to LEO's spouses becuase of the two plates providing some body coverage.

You do have the opportunity however to expand you product line by producing quality holsters that replace the cloth holsters in most alternate carry bags. You could use a lighter Kydex in this role.

I agree. I actually was just thinking I wouldn't mind something similar to sit in my car. It probably wouldn't have my gun in it, but I would love a version without the holster that I could have some basic emergency supplies in, or even just a few spare mags. It could sit in the truck 24/7 and not look conspicuous, but be loaded down with some extra supplies, and i could use the armor if needed as well.

I like the idea, but for my personal uses, it wouldn't be an EDC thing, probably just a sit in the car incase of emergency thing.

The holster idea is good as well. Its actually already in the works as I right this. Thanks!

I still have the black pistol fanny packs from back in the day. And hardly used it. I'd rather have the pistol on me Concealed. Another reason for that bag to get snatched. Now all the bad guys know what's in the man purse...lol

So how do you draw when you actually carry it like a messenger bag?

Wearing it in front reminds me of:

Spreading the WORD according to COLT. and Smith, Wesson, Ruger, HK, Sig, High Standard, Browning

Intrigued, but wonder what happens when and if it flops open by itself.

I actually really like it. I'm not into the whole concept of wearing a man purse but as far as the options in the summertime or in places that you would be extremely cold like up here in Idaho, it could come in handy rather than trying to Fumble through a big heavy parka to get your concealed carry weapon with gloves on. I like that it clearly indicates you are a good guy not a bad guy. I also like the armor comma so shut up and take my money where do I buy one of these
