Alpha Belly Band-Most Comfortable Holster I Own

I have OWB Fobus holters, IWB Ace Cases, Leather OWB pancakes on and on. None are more comfortable and as secure as the Alpha Holster Belly I've been wearing. It has two sewn in gun pouches, one for each side, I use the right side for my weapon and the left pouch for a spare mag. It holds both my everyday carry compact LC9 and my 4" XD40 equally well. I wear it owb, some wear it iwb. I really like how it molds the gun against your body. It also gives my sore back a little support and hold my beer belly in a bit! You have to play with the velcro strap a little. If you secure it using all the hooks of the hook and loop, the band stretches and won't release the gun when you draw. I found if I secure it with half the loops the weapon tears right away. Best thing is the price. $18.00 Black or White. I recommend trying one if you're not satisfied with what you are wearing. Made by Alpha Medical on Amazon.

OP you just as a note, a belly band is actually not meant to be worn around the belly but down inside the pants as IWB. Most often appendix, but just as easily anywhere else if you have a light or non LEO version like the one you are modeling.
Belly bands are very comfortable ways to carry, and are really useful if you normally wear a non tuckable holsters, and need to ware a tucked in shirt, this can fill that need at a low price. For daily wear you need on 3 on average so they can be laundered. It s important to remember belly bands should be hand washed to protect the elastic.

I've been looking for an alternative. I don't like carrying IWB. Never have found it comfortable getting in and out of cars, sitting etc. My OWB rigs are OK but, not ideal for me anyway. I love the flexibility and body "molding" of the weapon with this rig. I wouldn't mind finding a bit heavier duty belly band. You mentioned LE version. Any makes/models you'd recommend?

OP I run a holster store in OC, so there are an number of alternatives. I don't want to turn your tread into a sales pitch. Would be nice to know how you usually dress, shirt tucked in or not, and some idea of size.

The LC9 is an easy gun to conceal and make comfortable. The XD can be done as well but depending on physical features takes more work. There isn't a one size fits all approach. I sell a basic belly band made in Taiwan, and a custom belt to order from a U.S. company in Indiana.

With your preference for OWB, I don't think beefing up an IWB belly band rig is going to excite you, however Cross Breed makes a belly band with a velcro on Kydex hybrid holster. I am not a huge fan, and I don't sell them, but they may be something for you to look at.

If you provide the background info I can make some intelligent recommendations.

          OP

My experience with most elastic items is they wear out quickly.

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

I've used the Vedder 4-way belly band for a couple years now and still love it. Used to carry a Sprigfield xd 4", S&W Airlight snubnose, and now HK P2000sk.

Grabbed one last week after seeing this post. Damn these are awesome. I like it 10x better than my normal IWB because I can wear whatever shorts/pants I want with or without a belt. And you were spot on about getting in/out of cars, sitting down, etc. Considering ordering another.

Only complaint: mag pouch is a tad wide at bottom, which allows some mags to slip through. They don't fall through easily, but I could see it happening after wearing the band for a few hours.
God may have made men, but Samuel Colt made them equal.

Send me pics of your: Colt Detective Special, AMT Hardballer, pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I'm looking for them.

$5 bucks and this Walmart item is still showing great life. I don't wash it, I hang it after use to dry out and always wear a T-Shirt underneath. My back up box is collecting dust.

I don't find any need for built in pockets in the thing, my holster doesn't really move enough to worry about it even working in the field.

I've been wearing it for 5 months now probably 70% of the time with the balance pocket carry in cargo pants.

You will sweat some, but hey, fat guys need to sweat.

OP much stronger than anything you'll find in the medical field.

Ah, but a couple of quick stitches at the bottom will stop that.

A belly bands starts at $18.99. When the average event that decides if you live, die or are preeminently injured in a lethal encounter occur in a four second span, buy the right carry system.

Things you don't skimp on, life raft, parachute, bungee jumping cord, your holster.

Is there any reinforcing in the holster area or is it essentially just elastic covering the trigger? Just having elastic as the only protection for the trigger makes me nervous.

Save it for someone who carries a 1911 with a 3 lb. trigger. 75% of my handguns are DA and the one pictured is DAO with a 9-10 lb. trigger. I'm very comfortable and actually prefer DA. Like they say, proof is in da pudding. One round every second, strong hand, 5 of 5 baby...25 yrds

Dude seriously, who you trying to fool? Your product just like the Walmart Golds Gym product are probably both made in China for a buck, only difference is one has two horsepower brands behind it and don't have to pay a guy like you to sell someone 3 for wash day.

The $5 bucker works fine, if it didn't, I wouldn't use it. I charge 3 figures to put keys in my service vehicle.

Why the hate on Grant? Have you ever met him? He's a very nice guy who shoots straight. His shop is full of low cost alternatives to most of the stuff you see on this board. He will spend as much time with someone to get them in the least costly solution.

I did buy one of the alpha units. They are very comfortable but a underlayer of a T Shirt material or even better, a workout shirt would go a long way to relieve some of the chafing. That's not to say the chafing is bad, just a little bit irritating.

Definitely the most practical and secure way to carry I've tried for T Shirt and shorts wardrobe. And the unit does wonders for back support.
I love America for the rights and freedoms we used to have.
