Desantis Holsters

I've been trying for many moons to find a holster that fits right with my kahr p380. I picked up a few desantis holsters at adamsons in Los Alamitos today and I couldn't be happier. I had a crappy bulldog pocket holster which printed like crazy. These new holsters are awesome. One is a pocket holster and the other is an IWB holster that holds a spare mag in it. I like them both very much. Just thought I'd share my experience.

Agreed. I have a DeSantis for my shield, my 239 and my 229. I like 'em.

I use a DeSantis Cozy Partner IWB to carry a 3" 1911. Works well for me with a loose t-shirt and jeans though I usually wear a t-shirt with an unbuttoned button down shirt when I'm out and about. Less chance of showing when bending over or reaching above my head.

On the holster practice with the spare mag. If the argument is that you wouldn't carry a spare mag if it wasn't on your holster, that having it is better than not having. Real world carrying the mag strong side is mistake, especially if you carrying the gun anywhere other than center-line (i.e. appendix).

In a fight were a jury would agree after dissecting everything that as a reasonable man you were in fear for your life, or at risk of great bodily harm, reach across to your strong side, or transferring your gun to your weak hand and then back to your strong hand for a mag change, isn't only a bad idea, but potentially fatal. At least practice doing on a timer, well kneeling behind cover, well moving to cover, etc.

The holster will serve you well, but don't let the strong side spare mag be a placebo that makes you feel your safe until you have proven it to your self in drills.

Time from mag drop to pull from mag pouch to gun back on target should be around 1.5 - 2.8 seconds.

The holster that carries the spare mag is an appendix carry holster, not a pocket holster. I currently use the desantis pocket holster and just carry a loose spare mag in my non dominant pocket.

While I've never owned one of their full leather holsters, I have own two DeSantis leather and kydex holsters. I presently use my DeSantis Intruder IWB holder as my EDC.

DeSantis makes really good holsters for the money. I have a Cozy Partner for my Shield and it's beautiful. The fit is perfect and retention is adjustable. The Shield is a popular gun. I've noticed that Galco is slim pickings for the Shield, while DeSantis has many to choose from.
