    hybrid holsters

Am I the only one who can't seem to hide a gun very well with a hybrid holster? I have a White Hat Mattock holster with shells for a G27 and an HK USPc. The G27 I carried exclusively AIWB with a Vanguard 2, and when I carried the HK in the maxtuck it would be at 9 o'clock (you guessed it, lefty). It worked ok, but was not comfortable at that position. It seems that these hybrid holsters are made for the 4-5 o'clock positions, but they don't seem to hide well for me. I'm 5'9" 185lbs wearing t-shirts most of the time and all it takes is reaching for something overhead or slightly bending forward and it becomes completely obvious that I'm carrying.

Now I'm trying to find something for my HK P2000sk. I bought an AIWB holster from Garrett Industries and it hides alright... SHTF Gear makes a really nice hybrid, but I'd hate to buy another hybrid that I'm unhappy with. Does anybody have any experience with both the White Hat and the SHTF that could compare them for me, or have any other recommendations?

Neither of these guns need a hybrid. Why do you feel a hybrid holster is needed to carry either of these subcompact guns?

Your location shows Orange County, by any chance are you near Mission Viejo, or Lake Forest? We could have you try a couple of different options that I think would be much better for you. I don't have much in left hand in stock, but we could at least show you some options you might not have considered, and help you make better choices.

Hybrids are great of big guns, they spread the weight and are stable. They are overkill to the max on subcompact guns.

I prefer hybrid holster because they are comfortable and usually thinner than single clip iwb holsters. It's true single clip holsters are easier to wear it, but usually little thicker than dual clip holsters. That's just me thou..

Check out crossbreed, comp tac, keyholes holsters, and stealthgear.

Just picked up a Stealthgear holster and so far it's been great and VERY comfortable. They're pretty thin too, but I don't have anything to compare them to other than a AIWB full kydex holster (which sucks).

A Cooks Kydex for this is so thin you don't realize you have it on. Not very macho to say this, but they produce holsters for the Well Armed Woman. If I can put a shield an a 4'5" Asian dancer and have her be comfortable, putting the same gun on guy isn't hard. It's the choice of clip that makes most kydex holsters feel uncomfortable. The clips I specify make the holster improve the feel vs the gun alone.

A tuckable, cant adjustable kydex holster allows you to perfectly select the location of the gun on the body. It almost (Not quite) eliminates the influence of belt loops on positioning. I can even eliminate the need for a belt with the specification of the Ulti-Clip.

That is the reason I like to have people come into the shop. In an hour we can go through five or six different types of carry, the strengths and weakness of each and people can try them on, we can adjust them and have them draw, from standing, sitting, crouching, in their car.

Much better than the perpetual buy and try.

With small guns there can be a reason for a hybrid, but in most cases it's a person that just doesn't feel quite safe yet carrying a loaded handgun with a round in the chamber, and the holsters bulk adds a sense of security. Unfortunately it also encourages people to leave home without the gun.

Just my opinion of course, but then I have fitted holsters on everyone from FBI and LEO's to elderly grandmothers.

ok so maybe I don't need a hybrid for this gun. I've got a cooks holster already for my XDs, I just figured that I'd need something different for this gun which is a little thicker. I liked carrying my G27 AIWB, but the Garrett holster I recently bought doesn't seem to hide it there very well. Just thought I'd ask around for what might work better for me.

Well I guess my question is do you like your Cooks, and which model do you have? If you like, Bob does a great job, but the holster to buy is the adjustable model that lest you change the cant. http://packinfurdefense.com/products...d-holser-glock

If are comfortable with the gun's width bare, than the cooks AWIB which actually works anywhere on the body is going to be comfortable. The added benefit is that the holster is tuckable. The model in the link is nice because you can choose adjust to your comfort. Clips are changeable as well.

I sell hybrids, and I have a couple of models, but for this gun it's really overkill.
