AIWB... J clips or the clip that goes over the belt?

I was messing with a holster that has a "J-clip", and it kept the gun really low for appendix IWB. (J-clip basically it fits over the pants and the end just slips behind the belt and grips the bottom of the belt). I was wondering if people liked better the kind of clip that fits over the belt, but the holster is still AIWB? In my mind it would keep the gun higher up for a better grip. I have used the alien gears 3.0 and with 2 clips that go over the belt it keeps it higher up, can 1 clip only do it too? Just want all of your opinions.

I haven't found a holster with a J clip that I like. I'm sure there are good ones I just haven't found them. So the standard loop or over the belt clip for me.

Team, I have the j clips in stock. Any number of holster makers sell them. I have them for the Alien Gear I sell in Nylon, and the Cooks Kydex holsters I sell in Steel.

You do not want to use only a single clip with the Alien Gear Holster. But the Alien Gear Holster is not normally a holster of choice for Appendix carry.

Forgive me, but as someone who runs a holster store (all we sell are CCW systems, no guns, etc). I am curious what your concerns are, what your build is, what type of gun your trying to conceal, and how your normally dressed.

Jay clips are fine, but they put the weight of the gun on the clothing not the belt. The hook goes under the belt to assure that when you draw the gun the holster doesn't come with it. Well J-hooks are a little bit more covert the advantage is that it works with a dress belt or lighter belt because the belt isn't really doing any work to hold the gun. Decide up front if this is going to work for you.

Do not use only one clip on an Alien Gear or any two clip hybrid, you risk not having the gun draw properly. Remember in the real world, your likely behind the power curve, possibly injured and the gun has to present when you need it with your life on the line.

If you want a single clip AIWB there are a number of good holsters available for just this carry location. There are a range of ways to carry here without clips, with clips, with tuckable. Feel free to call me if your interested.

There are C- Clips as well.

The clip unless you got an odd length should affect holster ride height. That should be the attachment setting. Clips can be drilled, and holster makers do customize.

I have found the J-slip drops my jeans and makes it harder to grab. As far as the alien gear I use both clips. I like different holsters, but they add up. Even a cheaper holster is like $35. You go name brand and you are pushing $100 easily. I almost wish I liked glock as you can find those holsters on the secondary market easily, not H&K. Do C-clips really work?

I run C clips and they work fine. Support is the same as over the belt clips but more stealthy when tucked.

I prefer soft loops now so I can adjust it while I sit so it doesn't drive into my groin. I used the c clips for a few months before changing holsters it was great when you're walking around that it stays rigid and easy for initial grip. But sitting past 30 minutes with it on was my issue.

If you don't tuck a shirt in, more often than not the best holster for AIWB is the Sticky Holster. A belly band works nicely as well.

For those who are in OC bring your gun stop by the store and try one. If your going to the OC Gun show bring your gun stop by the booth and try one. If your not local, take your gun to your local gun show and try one. (Try before you buy). If you want to discuss why you should go try one, call me.
