CCW Trigger Change

I purchased 2 Glocks in Georgia when I lived there prior to moving to California.
One of my Glocks has had the trigger changed to a 3.5 lbs. pull.
I brought these handgus with me to California and they are registered as personally imported.

I plan to use the Glock with the 3.5 lbs. trigger on my CCW. I am reading several places that this could be "not allowed". I have searched and many of the postings I have found in reference are old (pre-Peruta).

Could someone advise me on this? Am I safe keeping the 3.5 lbs trigger legally with my CCW? If not I am willing to have a stock trigger put back on the gun.

I had no idea this would be an issue but would rather be informed and on the right side of the law.

It depends on the issuing agency. Oc has a stated policy of no internal modifications, including trigger work and laser ax guide rods.

At my qualification class, they measured trigger pulls with a gauge, and dinged a high standard .22 that had 1 and 1/4 lb pull. This was the first week of January, 2015.

I don't know how they knew what factory pulls are supposed to be, but they were absolutely checking.

That's your best bet. In my County they state only sight and grip modifications are allowed but they do not physically check the weapons. The problem with additional modifications arises when the weapon is used in a self defense situation and is then confiscated and checked for mods.

My instructor did not check trigger pull at all. No such requirement to do so. This is besides the fact that anyone claiming to be able to determine the difference between a 1.5 or 2 or 3 or whatever by hand without any gauge accurately is full of you know what.

I'm pretty sure I know what CCW class you are referring to and I believe they are no longer approved instructors.

To the OP. Change the trigger back to stock so you don't have to worry about it.

"Professionally inspected and cleaned"? Save yourself some cash and just do it yourself. If you were closer, I'd offer to help you.

I would not carry a 3.5# trigger and I have been CCWing since 1981.

To the OP. Change the trigger back to stock so you don't have to worry about it.

Curious as to who is no longer approved, especially if they were actually checking trigger pull. I know a ton of new instructors were added though.

A 3.5lb connector doesn't bring the pull down to 3.5 lbs. If the only thing changed in your pistol is the connector you are probsbly still in the 4lb range. If I were you I would just clean the gun yourself and swap out the connector. It's extremely easy and YouTube has videos to guide you. I could even pm you some step by step instructions with pictures if you want. The only tool you need is a 3/32 punch. Glocks don't have that many parts. It's not that intimidating when you take them apart


Modifying your gun all depends on the county. I have a lighter triggers on two of my Ccw pistols

The lighter the trigger the greater the risk of "accidental" read unintended discharge. This is not really an issue at the range when you are competition shooting but could be a serious concern on a every day carry self defense weapon.

Some manufactures make "Defense Carry" trigger kits which fall somewhere between factory and the ultra light competition triggers.

Some agencies allow no modification. Some don't care. Most probably couldn't tell the difference between factory and "defense carry".

Honestly though my ultra light trigger competition pistols are that way for a reason. Shooting same hole shots while sitting or standing at the range.

I do not need that level of accuracy in a defense pistol and will gladly except a heavier trigger on my EDC weapons as long as it is smooth.

But of course to each his own.

I think its better to just leave a gun you are going to carry bone stock, maybe add grip tape or change the sights but thats it for me. If you do have to shoot someone do you really want to deal with a modification issue on top of everything else you will be going through? A good lawyer will be salivating if he finds out you put a "hair trigger" in yourself.

That's a good idea, at least for OC.

Changing the connector back to stock is a relatively easy process, you can save some money (and buy ammo/pay some of your CCW fees) by doing it yourself. There are plenty videos on YouTube that walk the viewer through the process quite competently.

It took about two minutes to change my Glock 22 connector out for a 3.5lb Ghost Edge, not one of my carry guns though. Glock also has a 10lb connector for NYPD
