    Looking for another EDC...

    Hello,
I'm looking for feedback on a EDC pistol. My husband is giving me a little pressure to get another pistol before SSE goes away. Currently I carry a Sig 938 and I love it. It's nice and small and easy for me to conceal. Some things that I am considering are the Springfield EMP 9mm, Sig Ultra Compact 1911 45 ACP or Colt Defender in 9mm. My husband has the Sig Ultra Compact and I like it a lot, but I am concerned about being able to hide it well. I actually shoot better with his 1911's then I do with any of my 9mm pistols, but have a hard time concealing. Anyone have experience with the EMP or Defender?? Any other suggestions? Thanks

I think your 938 is a great carry gun. A slightly bigger option in the Sig line would be the 239 with DA/SA action though.

I just bought a M&P Shield in.40 caliber and was surprised at how soft it shoots. Extremely thin as well. The trigger is quite stiff, but an action job or Apex system should soften it up. You can also get in 9mm.

You didnt say how you carry and I think that makes a big difference. Sounds like you and your husband are in the 1911 camp so my advice wont sound like preaching.

For me, the EMP conceals well and handles equally well. I use a Milt Sparks VesaMax II IWB holster. I don't like the boxiness of the Sig and the Defender is better but Colts never feel quite finished to me. I carry Kimber Ultras in addition to the EMP. BTW, both the Defender and EMP are on the roster. I don't know about the Sig. I plan on SSE for an off-roster Kimber Ultra Super Carry which has even better conceal ability than my other EDC 1911s.

Sounds like your husband wants you to get an off roster gun.
What do YOU want? If what you want is on roster then it's a non issue for now.
Moving on--Even if something is on the roster now, it could be removed at any time, not just at current published expiration dates. This is pretty unlikely though.
Personally, I would buy everything you want or think you may want that you can afford. The worse that could happen is you'll get your money back past 1-1-15 if you decide to sell.
The flip side is the roster will be abolished within the next few years. Personally, I believe we are headed that way.

Thanks for all the input. In the summer months I am carrying more on my thigh and in the winter I carry mostly on my ankle. I have a "Betty" clam shell IWB that works well with my 938, but I have a 2 y/o and a 3.5 y/o, so carrying on my waist is not always comfortable since they still like to be picked up frequently.
I like to joke that price is not an issue since my husband is buying it for me!!

If you like the thinness of a single stack mag you could check out the Kahr PM9 for a 9mm option or a Glock 36, chambered in 45 acp. Both offer great concealment and should address your printing concerns.

I'll second the Kahr PM9. That is a nice small gun. Doesn't need SSE though. Does it have to be SSE even if you don't like it? Get another 938 if that gun works well.

Have you looked into the Flashbang bra holster? They have one that attaches in the center, or on the side.

I'm liking the Sig 320 in 9mm. It's not available in 45 (yet).
Should be easy to fit your hand.

Just remember that SSE guns in most counties are not allowed on a ccw license. Every body talking about getting a SSE gun for carry but it wont be legal unless its on your permit.

Shes already carrying the 938 so its a non issue in her county, and she already stated her husband wants her to get a non roster pistol before sse goes away, id suggest the sig 238 since its the 1911 platform your already used to in the 938
