wtf. did you sweat through your undershirt and the leather backing?? I can't seem to understand how this happened.Have a good day!Comment

Your doing it wrong.
On a crossbreed the leather should be worn towards your skin.

Perhaps Something Like N82
Maybe something from N82 might help?

OP my guess is that the leather on your Crossbred is not horse hide. All of my crossbred's are horse hide. I have three,I don't wear an under shirt and this never happens to me. Hose hide is much denser that cow hide. Just my 2 cents.Comment

maybe take it off while you're workingComment

Wow...yes, the difference between horse and cow hide would certainly clear up the issue of the sweatiest man any of us has ever seen making his gun look like he dropped it under his sprinklers on the lawn
OP - I like to sweat a lot as well. I found that the only real soultion to avoid gun damage in summer is separation (i.e: pocket carry). That involves a reconciliation of pocket size and caliber (I ended up with a Kahr PM40).Comment

HA HA HA, Yuuup. Found out too the mag release on a shield is MIM and WILL rust. Life got in the way for about two weeks and I had not done due diligence on my Shield, like dropping the mag every evening and wiping it down, etc.. One evening I tried to drop the mag.....no go. Mag Release would NOT move. I had to cycle the weapon to clear it, then literally had to beat the mag release to get it to move. Took it apart and removed the Mag release button, totally rusted. It's actually a pretty common problem (thanks Googlefoo), and one I'm MUCH more aware of now. 10 minutes with a Dremel and buffing wheel and it's all good, but be aware of this issue with the Shield.Comment

That is no bueno. I was thinking about picking one up too. Guess I'll save the cash.HA HA HA, Yuuup. Found out too the mag release on a shield is MIM and WILL rust. FWIW I carry all day every day, even when working hard outside in the summer. I have had some sweat on my gun more times than I can remember, never once had a single problem with any rust or corrosion, and I spend zero time maintaining it.Comment

Wipe it off immediately and perform general maintenance on your pistol; let the CLP cure for an hour before wiping off.
And, of course, use a sweat shield holster if necessary. Otherwise, I would suggest a stainless steel pistol

you need a different holster. I've heard that the acidic pH of a person's sweat will eat away at your gun's finish over time.

Same here as far as carry. I've literally had sweat running out of my G-23. My LC9 handled it well too it seemed. I would not let the Mag release change your mind. I love my Shield. Much more than my LC9,and it's a lot easier to carry than a G23. Just something to be mindful of if you get one. Now I pull the mag release every few weeks and wipe it down, then coat it with grease. That is no bueno. I was thinking about picking one up too. Guess I'll save the cash.

Thanks for all the replies. I do Executive Protection so I have to carry. For summer, I carry my Shield and during winter I carry my G19 and conceal it with a pullover or jacket. I do wipe it down everyday and do a full break down cleaning once a week.
I SWEAT A LOT!!! And yes, after a full days of hard work outside in the sun, the crossbreed holster and soaked in sweat. I don't mind sweating or having sweat on my gun. I just would have thought that the leather or horsehide on the crossbreed would have prevented sweat getting on my gun. Guess i'm getting an M-Tac since my G19 is also dry when I carry it during the summer.Comment
