    Traveled to FLorida

Lots of crap goes on there and this trip was planned a long time ago, so I had time to get my Florida CCW, which meant flying / checking a weapon. We booked Jet Blue due to a HUGE savings. I read about Jet Blue not being too friendly / hassling people who check firearms. I gathered a couple of things from this trip. 1)It's all in the delivery to the counter person. When we checked in I merely told the agent I needed to declare a firearm. Both in LAX, and Ft Lauderdale I received NO hassles, rudeness, or grief of any kind. I signed the form, put it on my gun vault that was locked in the suitcase, closed the bag and proceeded to security. In my mind things went perfectly fine.
    2) We did a air boat tour there, and when I checked in with the owner (small boat) I told him I was carrying he said good, "so am I".

Only real issue I had was it POURED on us during the air boat tour. Had to get back and dry out my Shield.
General gist of the post I guess is that it seemed to go perfectly fine at ALL locations. I totally think it's all in the attitude at check in.

I hope you enjoyed your trip. Were we as bad as everyone portrays us "wacko's", to be? You were here and met our rain season. May to November you can expect hot, humid, weather that can have a storm pop up in minutes.

IMO, an airboat ride should be on everyone's list to do if they have a spare afternoon, as they are fun and you get a chance to see the 'glades a bit better than driving through.

For personal knowledge, did your luggage containing your gun, come out on the carousel on your arrival both here and LAX, or did they have you go to their baggage office to pick it up?
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.

LOL, not at all. But I was born in Miami, and lived in Naples, then Sebastian for a while (1/2 of my childhood) so maybe I fit right in. I passed through some interesting areas near Ft Lauderdale, and again through Miami, but it was fine. We were dry in the keys, and you are right, it's to be expected everywhere else this time of year.
I've been on airboats several times, but my wife wanted a "tour", and learned a lot actually, including how fast the rain can build / move in.

My luggage did come out on the main baggage claim same as everyone else's. Both locations. It truly was very painless on both ends of the trip.

I should add the areas I passed through that were sketchy I was super observant, to the point I made a right turn at one light as I was being approached from 3 directions simultaneously, then just made a u turn a couple of blocks up.

          To the OP:

Where did you hear that Jet Blue was unfriendly toward people that check firearms? I've only flown them once, but my experience was the same as yours ie no problems, in fact they didn't even ask me to open the gun case.

Also where in Naples did you live? I've spent a lot of time there, as well as Miami.

There was a "report card" on another forum and they were graded low.

We lived up in North Naples. I don't remember the street name, but we used to ride our Bikes to The state park there all the time for the beach, just south of Wiggins pass.

The one thing I noticed on Jet Blue's website was they specifically warned passengers flying into NYC area airports to be aware of local laws.

The state park sounds like Delnor Wiggins State Park. I haven't been there in quite a few years - used to be really nice there. The old Vanderbilt Inn was torn down a few years ago to put up some luxury condos, and that changed the vibe of the area.

I noticed that as well. I've though about finding the report showing the best airline and post it up, but after this experience I don't necessarily agree with it.
Yep that's the place. I was a kid when we lived there, but I have visited since, it's all grown up.
