    Riverside Training Instructors

I need to take the class and qualify. Looking for feedback for the Ben Clark training center and FTA at rahaugees. The Clark center website has no info about the class. I read somewhere it was $80 and no reloads allowed. You shoot a magazine at 15,10,&7 yards according to the application.

FTA is $230 to qualify with 3 guns and 400 rounds according to their website. A friend told me he qualified their at 5,7&10 yards and was allowed to use reloads.

Share with me your thoughts if you've been to either, the cost and actual round count.
Clark center is cheaper but will have to get new ammo & next class is in august.
FTA costs more but is down the street from me and has multiple classes all month.

It is probably different now, but I paid $100 for the class and qualifying through RSO at Ben Clark. The class is not a training class in the slightest; it's only to meet the requirement. Qualifying is at 15yd, 10yd, and 7yd firing the magazine capacity (max of 10) in controlled pairs from each position: 30 rounds max from each weapon. They never looked at my ammo but I shot factory.

I took the renewal FTA class and you join in with the 2 day CCW class which is more training oriented than the BCTC one. I can't for the life of me remember the qualification exactly but I think it was 75 total rounds from each weapon at 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 yards. 20 from 3-7yd, 10 from 10yd, and 5 from 15yd IIRC. They did state to use factory loads at the line but weren't checking.

If you are a very confident shooter and feel comfortable carrying and using a firearm, the BCTC class will save you a few bucks. If you are not comfortable or have questions, take the FTA class.

    Good luck!

FTA has no problem with you shooting reloads. All of the ammo I shot for the class and qualifying my 3 guns were reloads. In fact my .357 tracker was run with .38 spl cowboy loads I accidently purchased some time back so we had the smoke and all. (just made sure I was down wind of everyone).

I took it in April and re qualified last month to change a weapon out. I shot my own reloads each session. It's quick and easy.

So I ended up going to Johnnie Woods security training in Indio. Just over an hour drive for me, but it was the soonest available class and I didn't mind the drive. The convienent thing is I got it done in 1 day. Cost was $150, classroom in the morning qualifier after lunch. Very easy going class. I would highly recommend for anyone in the desert cities or if you want it done as quick as possible and don't mind the drive to check him out.
