On long road trips up and down the state, do you keep the weapon on you, or throw it in the center console, under the seat in a locked container? What is your preferred method?

HANDGUNS
California Penal Code section 25610 does not prevent a citizen of the United States over 18 years of age who is not lawfully prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, from transporting by motor vehicle any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person provided the firearm is unloaded and stored in a locked container.
The term "locked container" means a secure container which is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment. For more information, refer to California Penal Code sections 16850.HANDGUNS Pursuant to California Penal Code section 25610, a United States citizen over 18 years of age who is not prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, may transport by motor vehicle any handgun provided it is unloaded and locked in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container. Furthermore, the handgun must be carried directly to or from any motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while being carried must be contained within a locked container.
Throwing it in the center console is not an option. Under the seat in a locked container will be my method until I get my CCW. -
Since you posted under CCW, you probably have your CCW. As long as the wepon is under your immediate control. There is no reason to lock up your CCW weapon.Comment

Once I have my ccw it will be in the console of my vehicle for a road trip. Short around town it will remain on my person.NRA Life Member

I don't regret burning some bridges. I regret that some people weren't on those bridges when I burnt them!Comment

Hmm, didn't consider that he might already have a CCW. I would still not want it readily visible, but easily accessible.Comment

I dont mean to be rude, but the whole point is to have it on you. I understand what you mean when driving, I do place mine in inbetween the seat right next to the seatbelt release, but I always holster it when I exit the vehicle (you get decent at this manuever with a little procatice).Comment
