Not another CCW changes thread... Riverside

    Hi all,

Im sorry for another one of these threads. I just have a quick or so i think question.

I had already made my appointment with Riverside County to do my initial interview (April 21'st). Prior to the ruling in the Peruta case.

I called up the CCW unit because i had a question about my DOJ app. Specifically whether i can list my G20 with a conversion barrel as both 40/10mm.

After he tried to answer my question he stated we haven't changed anything yet. I said that I was aware and that I had decided to attemp obtaining a CCW prior to the ruling.

He asked me what my good cause was and i explained it to him. Now however it looks like i may be taking a job with another company. And my current employment was part of my good cause.

Since i will hopefully be changing jobs i will not be able to use this in my Good cause statement.

My question to you, is if i get denied. In light of the recent developments can i appeal and go the infringing on my rights route? Or maybe hopefully they will change their mind before my interview. But im not holding my breath.

    thanks
    Steve

Peruta withstanding, the deputy would likely advise you to not submit to admin if he thought your GC wouldn't pass their standard.

Just as an FYI, when I initially applied, I had a SIG P229 that was purchased (and therefore DROS'd) as a .40S&W and I wanted to be able to carry it with the 357SIG barrel I had bought for it. That was a "no go" because, at least back then, about four years ago, my pistol needed to match what came up in DOJ's AFS database.

Regarding your GC, you might just want to wait until you take your new job and see if you can still come up with a GC that flies, or re-work your existing GC if you can.
