Moving violations.

I have found other threads here and on CalCCW but none that answer the question(s) I have.

1. If one were to have moving violations that occurred in other states and are not present on a driving record (like the one you can request from the DMV online), are you required to list those?

2. If 1 is true, how do you find this information. a california license is not recognized on other states' DMV websites as a valid D/L in their database.

There is a "Driver's License Compact" that provides for information sharing between most states.

Out-of-State violations will appear on your California driving record to extent provided for in the compact.

so how would I locate this information? should I be ok only listing what I can find in CA and annotate that more may be out there. I think I will be ok as long as I don't intentially omit information.

I would start by requesting a copy of your driving record from DMV. The DMV records available to LE include information reported under the compact. So far as I know, the copy that you could obtain would have the same info.

I would include all citations that you received on the application. If you include one, and it's not on the DMV record, it only counts as far as the agency chooses to use it to assess your personal responsibility. On the other hand, if you omit material from the application, that's pretty much going to be dispositive of the application.

We are talking about violations within the past 5 years only , correct? Since the app only asks about violations within the last five years. Am i missing something?

i requested a copy of my record from the dmv online for $2.00. and it shows only CA infractions. I have received violations while stationed in North Carolina but they do not show up. maybe I have to actually mail in for them or something

Connman they only ask about 5 years worth of violations. But they can see far beyond. Thus an occasional question.

Its not like I'm TRYING to leave things out. I legitimately do not know. and the (paid) information that I requested from the CA DMV is not yielding violations I have received in other states.

Contact NC folks; while CA - and NC - might share punitive actions, such as suspensions or revocations, and thus CA would have some info, I'm not surprised that CA does not have infractions from other states.

Traffic violations.

While I don't remember the exact dates, I do remember the number of all moving violations I have recieved in my years of driving.

FWIW, that number is 7, the last two were in 2008 and I dealt with one with traffic school.

Don't treat the interviewer like they are "stupid", they read your body language and if they sense you are lying, guess what happens to your app.

If you got an out of state ticket, own up to it.

omg i said like twice I'm not trying to deny, omit, or lie about any violations.

I just down want to put down on paper inaccurate information. I rather just leave it blank and fill in the block that says "have you left out any information" with "inquire in person", and when they ask me in the interview I'll tell them that I have had other violations but after reasonable searching I was unable to locate any information.

@SonofwwiiDI yes my oldest traffic violation was sometime in 2009 and was entered as a Prayer for Judgement. one in 2009 and one in 2011. those three were out of state and I have no record of them.

Okay during an interview, yes you should not lie but the question asked was what should i list (on the app) No need to give more than asked on the app.
