Good moral character requirements

I know nothing specific about San Diego, but I'd be surprised if they actually spell that out in objective terms. Very, very surprised.Like granular silica through an equatorially constricted chronographic vessel, so are the circadian georotations of our metabolic persistences. -
So its usually totally up to the sheriff or something? Theres gotta be some kind of guidelines, or else opinion and assumptions would rule.Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

I did a little googling and can find requirements specified for other states, but still not for Cali.Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

Good moral character means 'did you contribute a large amount of money to the sheriffs re-election fund?' Does one need to prove good moral character before speaking freely? Before going to church?Comment

Yes before puerta, you were right. Now, I think it is handled differently.Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

Peruta did not address 'good moral character', only Sheriff Gore's implementation of evaluating 'good cause'.
Now, any issuing agency should follow the 9th Circuit ruling, and accept 'self defense' as 'good cause'. Other issues remain.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Aah I must've got good cause and good moral character mixed up. Ok, so is there some kind of guideline on the requirements, or is it dependent on the officers mood at the time?Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

No guidelines; entirely at the discretion of the issuing agency, once one has established one is not a 'prohibited person'.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Quite frankly, I don't even see the point of being a guinea pig to see how (if good cause is thrown out), how the sheriff's in stricter counties will just abuse 'good moral character. I'd wait to apply for a CCW until that is clearly defined or thrown out. Seriously, what's the point of spending hundreds of dollars on having the county screw with you just to make it so you can't get a ccw (guarenteed LA county will do this)...
Is there current legislation out there that is working on removal of good moral character?Last edited by ambis; 02-24-2014, 2:37 PM.Comment

Whew! Sorry, just caught me off guard.
No, no legislation. Richards v Prieto at the 9th Circuit. It was waiting for Peruta; should be moving soon.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Thanks librarian. I do agree with ambis though. I think Ill wait to apply until after Richards is settled. Unless a denial isnt a "black mark" on your record like some say it is.Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.
