Where do I put past security clearances on the CCW form?

I work in a Federal agency 20+ years - and back in the day when I lived in DC, I had a security clearance. Had to go through the whole 9 yards, FBI visited old girlfriends and stuff.

That's been more than 10 years ago so I am sure OC dosen't care but it can't hurt can it?

For what it's worth, my agency isn't involved in law enforcement nor any one of the intelligence agencies.

Where can I put that down? In the good cause section? It's not appropriate there really but where else can I place it? Not knowing any better I would think that it would make it easier to do their job.

I would think with all the ex-military folk this would be a common question but I didn't see it when I searched so apologies if it's been covered ad nauseam

At the moment, there's no reason to believe prior clearances have any influence on issuing LTC.

For some issuing agencies, that might trigger an idea that your good cause was somehow related to those activities, and even if LTC were granted, it might be restricted.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

On the back, in invisible ink. It's the only way that they will believe you.

You don't. It is irrelevant. They are going to do their own background search and it has nothing to do with good cause or self defense.

Ha , so you're bothered there isn't a place on the form to show how special and more deserving you are?

And you're just going to write it in on a line that doesn't apply ?

Are you sure there wasn't an "I'm special " box that you could check off ?

I wouldn't list it since it doesn't ask. I figure they will find out about mine when they perform the back ground check. When i wrote my good cause, i also closed with a moral character/ good judgement statement, i guess if you really wanted to add it, you could slide it in there.

I am sure so cal-shooter is a little miffed he has never held a job important enough to require a security clearance. Hence his snide comments. I have a clearance and know how invasive the process is. I can assure you it is much more in depth than any pd can run . So-cal don't hate people asking a relevant question about a very difficult thing to achieve. Also it does make a difference in weather or not you get a LTC. It was the deciding factor for my CCW in SD.

Security clearances expire. Mine did. TS/SCI/code name clear/SAP/plan read in,/HUMINT, blah, blah blah. No one cares. Snowden had clearances.

                It's irrelevant to your IA.

Now, did you drink and drive hree weeks ago? THAT's important!

                Cheers,

                JR.

Actually sdjb I have had security clearance for multiple contracts when I was in aerospace for 15 years

Should that bring me to the front of the line for my application ?

I think that type of thing would come up an interview

But most security clearances are more about your ability to be blackmailed and how much contact you have with foreign nationals

When you get printed, they will find that you already have an FBI / Federal file with prints on record.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                    (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Where do I put past security clearances on the CCW form?

I wonder if my internship with the ATF count as past security clearance since I had access to all kinds of secret stuff (like where the best donut shops are). Too bad there isn't a line for that. Only my 1 arrest for assault will come up, even if the charges were dropped by both the victim and the DA's office since it was in self defense.

There is no reason to list previous clearances and they dont ask that on the app. If they have a problem with you they will let you know

Thanks for the positive responses. As I indicated just trying to help in the due dilligence the issuing agency needs to perform. Given the backlog of applications that are starting to pile up w/ last week's 9th circut decision, I would think we all would want to help each other out in letting the process play out. The faster they can approve new applicants, the more applicants they can issue CCW's to. Not trying to cut any corners, just attempting assisting where prudent.
                          thanks again.
