The best answer to this question is "No"

    I agree.

They aren't going to check medical, insurance or pharmacy records. They aren't going to ask anyone if they know if you've been treated.

If you have a 5150 on your record it's one thing. Otherwise, just say no.

It is the thrust more toward those who have been institutionalized or otherwise have more severe issues?
I am a Designated Evaluator for my county, IMHO anyone receiving treatment for danger to self or others, or has been psychotic in the past would not automatically receive a green light to buy a gun. I think that should not discount a person entirely, but a thorough competency exam would rule out any concerns and then that person would be allowed to purchase/own a firearm.

I would think that someone that isn't being treated for mental health would be more of a danger. I've seen some crazy mofo's that weren't being treated for mental issues that really needed it. I think they are more referring to an involuntary hospital stay.

Also, numerous meds have multiple uses. Cymbalta is used for both depression and nerve pain. A lot of seizure medications are used as mood stabilizers also.

I strongly disagree. Most of the "mental health" industry is a racket designed to make jobs for therapists and generate income for pharmaceutical companies. Although there are some legitimate "mental health diagnosis, like schizophrenia, many others, like Attention Deficit Disorder, are pure bull****.

While I agree with you that there is a lot of made up disorders what I was referring to was that there are a lot of mentally ill people that are not being treated and don't think that they are mentally ill. Those people are more scary than someone that recognizes that they have a problem and are getting help for it.

I'm working on applying to Riverside and was wondering about this. I saw a psychologist/psychiatrist for social anxiety issues about 10 years ago. The one thing I may have going for me is I received an offer to enter the academy for Riverside County Sheriff about a year ago but ended up declining and going in a different direction. I plan on bringing that up if they give me issues. If I'm qualified to be a deputy sheriff then a ccw shouldn't be an issue. I guess I'll see.
