Live Scan Processing Delays By CA DOJ

    Dear Members,

Is anyone else experiencing Live Scan processing delays to renew their CCW in CA? I’m going through my CCW license renewal process with my local PD. Everything’s been completed except that the local PD is still waiting for the CA DOJ to process my Live Scan fingerprints which were submitted over 7 months ago! The website still says “In Progress”. Really??

The CA DOJ will not respond to update requests from citizens. They haven’t even responded to the update request from the local PD. Thanks in advance if anyone has feedback to share from their renewal experience.

Update - The CCW administrator from my local PD suggested that I have a new Live Scan submitted with a new ATI number. She believed that there must have been a technical glitch in the processing of the original ATI number or perhaps some of the prints were not completely legible. Sure enough, she was correct. I checked the Live Scan status website, and it appears as if the status of all three (CA, DOJ, and Firearms) were completed. Whew! That was a long and painful renewal process (and cost me an additional $133). I'm just happy that it's completed.
Public service announcement - the most recent Live Scan technician put Corn Huskers Lotion on my fingertips and asked me to rub my fingers together so as to enhance the legibility of the fingerprints. The original Live Scan technician did not do that.

Glad you got everything sorted out. My local department LAPD does not require new livescan for renewal and I think it would be better if all departments followed this especially for renewal.

Wow, I only had to do one live scan when I initially got my CCW.

Same for San Bernardino County, one and done (Live Scan).

Ya, I guess it depends on the PD jurisdiction. My friend in San Diego County did not have to submit another Live Scan when he did his renewal.
