Single Shot Exemption OK for CCW permit?

Years ago during the SSE days I purchased an XDS 9mm. I am finally applying for my CCW. Are there any problems having it on my list of handguns? I've heard alot of both yes and no over the years. I'm just wondering if there is some definitive information on this now.

What's the caliber recorded on the DROS? Typically, it's the caliber you can put on CCW. If you changed the caliber to the originally manufactured, you would need to re-DROS the gun. This is how it works in OC. Hopefully, SD is more lax

It's listed as 9mm on the DROS.

The San Diego Sheriff’s CCW website doesn’t say anything about SSE. My assumption is that if they don’t publish anything publicly stating a policy restricting it, then it’s allowed as long as the handgun is otherwise legally registered to you in CA. I have a ‘SSE’ Glock 26 Gen4 that is my primary carry firearm, and OCSD has no issue with it. I also have pre-ban grandfathered G17 magazines that I am legally allowed to possess and use … OCSD also says anything I can legally possess I can legally use and carry with my CCW. My G17 is also on my permit for this reason even though I don’t carry it … they make a good backup mag for my G26.

I know this is getting off topic but I have several 9mm SSE guns on my permit in OC that were listed as single shot .22 and .25 caliber guns when they went through DROS. As of 3 years ago at least they don't seem to care anymore.

I was told things started changing with OC 2+ years ago. Some people had to re-DROS their SSE guns in the semi configurations and caliber. It was also pedaled by a few CCW instructors. There were a few people here who got affected. If your guns were dros-ed as .22 or .25 only, but you are able to have it on CCW at 9mm, it's really great.

The San Diego Sheriff's Office doesn't care about SSEs. I have a Franklin Sig 320 that was purchased as a single shot. They let me list it on my permit, no questions asked.

When I was a CA resident, the Butte County Sheriff never raised a concern that my listed firearms were SSE. I have two Northern Rockies Armory 1911/2011 single shot uppers, for anyone who wants a SSE2 2011.
