It is patently unconstitutional. But it will likely take a lawsuit or two to get them and the other IA's with excessively long waits to fall in line. There are zero penalties for this so there is zero motivation for them to improve things.

You've already found the county board so first check there and see what information/help might be available.

I would also check with the California based 2A groups...FPC, CRPA, etc. Take a look at their websites as the ones that are fighting this should have information up on the status of the CCW process in CA and what has been done...and is being done. I'm not entirely sure which ones are on this otherwise I would tell you directly. But for the ones that are actively pursuing these things, shoot them an email and a) let them know what you're experiencing and b) ask if they can offer any assistance. They may be looking for willing participants to become plaintiffs of might be willing to email the sheriff if they haven't already.

It sucks but I believe things will ultimately get better...but it's going to take some time...and likely people who are willing to become plaintiffs.

    Good luck!

This long a wait time seems unusual. I've seen a steady stream of San Mateo applicants in my classes. When was the last time you contacted Jennifer Valdez?

Those of you who are experiencing long wait times for your CCW should consider sending CRPA an e-mail detailing the issue.

Be sure to include the timeline, costs, and also if a psych eval is required.

CRPA is fighting these outrageous requirements and lack of response by IA's. The more valid info CRPA has, the better the chance things will change for the better.

The young lady who interviewed me said because of all the back and forth situations in California with rulings, etc, the time might take longer to get an appointment for the psych evaluation (which she said could be 4 months). This was back in December mind you, and I'm getting to the point where I might follow up if I don't hear from them within one more months time. I find it interesting however that after several months of waiting (this was BEFORE the Interview), I got the exact same response from a specific person (won't name this person) after I followed up to see why it was taking longer than I was told. Another user on Calgun's said that this same person gave him the same response too after he followed up (like it's a script). I'm very patient, and we'll see what happens.

I don't believe I've spoken to her? I know this entire delay is because they forgot to send me a Livescan form which set me back a long time. They apologized for the delay and the setback due to not receiving that information. I think they took care of that for me though because I expected to pay when I entered the facility to do the Live Scan, the employee told me that I didn't owe anything. I thought Livescans are over 80 dollars? Maybe I heard wrong.
