Appeal process...

After being denied of a CCW for reasons not disclosed to me by my local sheriff's department, is their an appeal process?

I asked this question to my county sheriff's administration department which did not know the appeal process procedures.

I know Sac county has an appeals process. Always did, even before they went virtual shall issue. I had always thought they had to, even if they just went through the motions and denied anyway.

There is no statutory appeals process. Any such process likely violates the text of the statute.

Some licensing authorities do have an appeals process, however. I suggest submitting any appeal, including a request for more information as to the basis of the denial, as soon as possible following receipt of the denial.

In Solano County, it states that there are two stages of approval. First when the Sheriff approves your good cause. Second is after your Livescan background check. You may appeal the first by elaborating on your good cause to the Sheriff. It states in the packet that there is no appeal to the post background check denial.
