    State Fair

Does anyone here know if it's legal to carry at the state fair?

From all the signs and frisking going on just to get in I'd say no. At the entrance they have about a dozen signs stating no weapons or firearms.

Yet another good reason to not waste my time and money on that second rate event.

Don't see anything on the state fair page, http://www.bigfun.org/fair-information.php, and isn't in the CalExpo policies and Procedures manual. That does say
            11.4 INCOMPATIBLE ACTIVITIES
A copy of Cal Expo’s Incompatible Activities policy is on file in the Administration Building.
            so perhaps there...

ETA a post at Calccw writes
Cal Expo and State Fair Regulation 3.36.080 prohibits the possession, among other things relating to dangerous or deadly weapons, of firearms on the Cal Expo facility.

2nd ETA: Cal Code of Regulations 14 CCR 4955
pistol, revolver, or any other firearm

I called the head cheese at the state fair in 09, no firearms no ccw exemptions. Is this legal?

Librarian pulled out the CCR that the Expo uses to ban firearms being carried on the person. PC 171b isn't the authority they used to do that... the authority is actually in the Food and Ag code... a section that actually no longer exists. Check it... Food and Agricultural Code 3324 does not exist.

Notice that "confiscated items" won't be returned until the person leaves the grounds. Doesn't that mean that if a Cal Expo LEO confiscates my pistol that they actually have to follow the LEGR procedures to release it if I don't leave the grounds? After all, they wouldn't retain the pistol right there in my immediate presence... they'd likely take it to their office for storage if I chose to remain on the grounds.

And yes, the ground are State Property... and therefore should be subject to PC 171b, which their regulation clearly attempts to override.

It's an unlawful restriction put it needs to be challenged a correct way.

It violates the Government Code and the Penal Code.

Aren't we suppose to follow the rules when the sign says ?No firearm allowed" ?

While it exists as an unlawful but validly adopted California Regulation, I would not violate it. However, "no weapons" or "no firearms" signs don't always mean what you think they mean and you have to go to ordinance/code/law/regulations to figure out what they really mean.

I think the authority for the reg might be F&A 3332
The board may do any of the following: ...
                              (f) Make or adopt all necessary orders, rules, or regulations for
governing the activities of the California Exposition and State Fair.
Don't know where 3324 came from; can't find anything about it.
