no suggestions off the top of my head besides watch the ventura county thread. The sheriff is fighting the PRA's for good cause statements. Once those are available, you should have a good idea of where to go with it.

Be aware though, that others have reported waiting up to and including a year for their interview, so dont expect anything light speed.

Passed my interview November 11, 2010 after waiting exactly one year after applying.
Still waiting for my letter to proceed with fingerprinting.
I think the recent change of Sheriff has not helped this situation.
New Sheriff was sworn in January 3, 2011.

FYI, good cause should not be posted on a public forum!
"Life Is Hard. It's Harder When You're Stupid"-John Wayne!

"Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder"-Michael Savage!

"The Object of Life Is Not To Be On The Side Of The Majority, But To Escape Finding Oneself In The Ranks Of The Insane"-Marcus Aurelius!

"Dr. Thomas Sowell Is A National Treasure"-Big Jake!

Why exactly? Have you been to the CGF site lately? I read 76 pages of peoples good causes last night for SB county alone. The whole reason VC is taking so long is because he doesnt want anybody to know what GC is for whom he has issued to because he will have his proverbial tit in a wringer if he doesnt issue to somebody else with similar good cause.

When Randy Adams became Chief, seems like ions ago, he instituted a then liberal, CCW policy:

He would issue to anyone not otherwise prohibited who: Passed a psychological exam; passed firearms training, as specified in the PC; and took out a One Million Dollar liability policy. He "would allow three firearms" on the license.

Many people took advantage of that process, rather than take their chances with the Sheriff.

I understand (although I don't know for sure) that the new (current) Chief has delegated this task to the Sheriff.

Zero, It's doubtful the PD would be more liberal than the Sheriff's Dept., though you could call and ask for a point of reference.

I would be curious to do some Initiative 'work' in Ventura with the new Sheriff...

Ventura County CCW applications are done through the Ventura County Sheriffs Dept. in Ventura not Simi P.D. Call and talk to Maria and she will send you out an application. +1 on not posting your good cause online, there are many people here that can review yours and help with suggestions. You will want to do it right the first time. check the Ventura County thread.

There is a new Sheriff, and it might be worthwhile to apply with a self-defense good cause statement while we seek out the records of approved good cause statements.

Please cease with the nonsense promulgated by those with a deathlock on information at other sites. All good cause statements in California will be online and easily accessible within 12 months (even someone's "super-fantastic, uber-realistic, no-one's-thought-of-combo that someone@aguywhomakesmoneydoingthisorthat.biz told you was super-fantastic). Within 24, it simply won't matter - self defense will be enough in every jurisdiction. In the meantime, let's focus on holding Sheriffs accountable for their actions (and their policies).
