    good cause statement

I am looking for some direction on my good cause statement.

I am construction superintendant and do the land acquistions for our company and am often working in very bad areas. I unfortunately live in LA county. Can anyone give me some direction.

Your good cause statement is personal to you so just include what you think makes you a higher risk than the average person. Unfortunatly like you said you live in LA county, where you won't get a permit if you are at the police station with a gang banger pointing a gun at you. Also most sheriff's departments will not issue strictly for work related reasons. The rationale is that if your job is so dangerous that you need to carry a gun, you should get a safer job. Sorry to break it to you, but not much chance in your county.

Things are changing for the better via Calguns' statewide initiative (see 2nd Amendment forum),

The site offers clear application advice and stuff in the appropriate area.

NO!! Then you have to substantiate it. We're all better served if CCWs are issued for "Personal Protection".

That was just the advice that was given to me when I was writing my GC statement. My Sheriff accepts "personal protection" and the detective handling my file told me to just use personal protection as my reason. Hopefully soon all of CA will be just like San Bernardinio county. The SB sheriff dept makes the process very smooth.

                LA County

Truth is that it appears that the onlypeople who can score a ccw are those who are connected.

That being said, I would apply anyway just to. Get denied on paper. It gives you legal standing as an injured party when the federal civil rights lawsuits hits.

Do you live in LA county or just work there? If you live there then you can pretty much forget it. But if having a CCW is of great importance to you then I'd suggest moving. Maybe Chino Hills or another area in West San Bernardino county. Then you could apply and get your permit.

In the next couple of weeks, the good cause statements that did work will be posted on calgunsfoundation.org. That can help guide you, but LA County is notoriously bad.
