On 09-30-2010, the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association (NVSCA) had a CCW permit holder meeting to discuss possible changes to NV CCW permits.
Second hand reports of what occurred...
NVSCA will support legislation to change the NV CCW permit to create a "semi-auto pistol" class, similar to the "revolver" class. Meaning qualify with one and you can carry any. Also, no longer need to have semi-auto pistols listed on permit by make/model/caliber. May happen in 2011 due to politician that kept it from passing in 2007 & 2009 being term limited out.
NVSCA will support legislation to make NV CCW information confidential.
NVSCA will support legislation to amend the NV CCW background check process, so that it will qualify for the BATFE NICS exemption for NV residents.
NVSCA reiterated that all NV CCW permit training must be done by an authorized NV CCW instructor in NV. Non-residents must obtain training in the county they will be applying to.
NVSCA had decided that the AZ CCW permit meets the NV standard to be honored. Vote and final decision in May 2011, if passed goes into effect on 07-01-2011.
NVSCA will not re-honor UT CCW permits, until UT mandates a live fire qualification requirement for permit issuance.
NVSCA had no response to AZ/AK style "constitutional carry".
NVSCA will be neutral to any legislation that will allow CCW on college/university property.
