    CCW for non-permitted person

    **purely hypothetical and genuine curiosity**

Are non-residents or non-permitted persons allowed to conceal carry their personal firearm in their hotel room or on hotel property?

Didn’t some judge just rule that illegals have the same right to own firearms as the rest of us? I also seem to remember reading about a case that said even convicted felons have the right to keep and bear in their home.

    Sorry, not sorry.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. By non-resident I was referring to a US citizen but not a resident of California.

Is citizen can have gun in their domicile. Hotel room counts

Hotel hallways and lobby are public and would need a CCW.

        In California
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
        (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

          Under CA laws...

It is legal for a non-prohibited person to transport a firearm (unloaded in a locked container or encased, if the firearm is a long gun) from their vehicle to their residence or temporary residence and from their residence or temporary residence to their vehicle. In order to remain CA legal, the course of travel must be directly to and from those authorized locations.

It is legal for a non-prohibited person to legally possess (have access to) or carry (open or concealed) a firearm within their residence or temporary residence.

It is legal for a non-prohibited person to legally open carry a firearm in a non-prohibited area that is legal to discharge a firearm that is outside of their residence or temporary residence.

It is illegal for a non-prohibited person to open carry in a prohibited area that is outside of their residence or temporary residence.

It is illegal for a non-prohibited person that does not have a valid CA CCW permit to conceal carry outside of their residence or temporary residence.

          Examples of....
Within a temporary residence = inside a hotel/motel room or inside a tent.
Outside a temporary residence = outside of the hotel/motel room and in the hotel/motel hallway/lobby/parking lot or outside of a tent and in the campground the tent is located in.
