LASD contact with a LEO reporting

So I was curious what others have experience with having to report ?all interactions with law enforcement officers? to the LASD once they have their CCW. Today I was rear ended by a moron who was driving erratically, then he got out and assaulted me. I called 911 as he had two large friends with him and two more walked up right as the police arrived?he came over and slapped the hat off my head while I was on the phone with 911 pushed me and threatened me multiple times, the dispatcher asked what was going on and I told them. Once the police arrived I notified them I was a CCW holder and that I did not have my firearm on me or in my car at the time, I was heading back to work from a doctors appt and am not allowed to have a firearm on my company property even locked in a safe in my truck. I notified LASD of everything although I have zero info on who this person was, and the police report will not be available for some time. They asked if I wanted to press charges, I told them no, I?m not in any trouble as I was the victim, but I?m curious what happens now that I have reported it. Is it just a ?thanks for letting us know? or will I have to go through some process now? Thanks for the info!

If you didn?t possess your firearm at the time there was no valid reason to notify.
    Nothing will come of this.

I was told by my instructor that I’m required to notify, and also required by LASD to identify myself as a ccw holder even when I’m not carrying, seems like a joke rule, I have friends that are cops and the way it’s written makes me believe I need to notify them every time I talk to them. I wonder if this is something they’ll change if everyone reports silly crap like this all the time

^ I disagree. You never want someone else telling your story to your IA (In this case, could be the officers that arrived). If YOU tell the first version they hear- you control the narrative and preempt the speculation. You sure don't want to get a call from them asking you to "come on down for a chat next Tuesday at 9:30".
If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there

I agree, I’m trying to cover all my bases, and LASD seems to have some strangely worded requirements…

The way it’s written makes me wonder if someone married to a LEO would need to document and email every “interaction” with them to the LASD ccw unit…

                As someone once said...

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Report it. It's an official contact with LE.

I reported it, more concerned how it will play out, if they will even care or if it?ll get blown way out of proportion

Bushy, please let us know if you hear from LASD, if anything.

My bet is you will get a very short email saying thank you.

I'm glad you weren't hurt, but you should have pressed charges. Might help the next guy this nut job encounters and actually beats the crap out of him.

That is what I was told as well, but I just noticed the Terms of Use Agreement for CCW was changed about a month ago. #7 has changed from:

"reguardless of wether I am carrying a firearm, when contacted by ANY law enforcement officer, I SHALL advise them that I am a CCW Holder"

                            To:
"If I am contacted by a law enforcement officer for any reason, and I am armed, I shall immediately advise the officer that I am a CCW licensee. If the officerrequests my CCW license, I will provide my CCW license as proof I am legally carrying aconcealed weapon."

You can find the Terms of Use Agreement on their web page:

                              Totally agree..
He has nothing to hide or lose by reporting it. I gave a statement to a officer on something I saw. I covered myself and reported it. I was also at a event where a woman had a shotgun and was pointing it at people. The officer asked if I was welling to be a witness. I informed him that I have a ccw and was carrying. I testify in court. When we were waiting to be called the police and I talked about guns.
My IA response to both events was a simple Thank you
