Selling firearm on permit question ?

Full disclosure, I looked but not an extended amount. And found nothing addressing my question.

Scenario, selling a firearm that is currently permitted to carry. If sold to a gun store or transferred to a private party by licensed FFL, is it still required of me to remove from my permit via the IA ?



Sac county, and really didn?t see much at all regarding this at the Sheriffs website.

There are a few threads on this.

From what I’ve seen, it’s a non issue. Since it’s listed but no longer in your possession, you can’t carry it anyways. So it’s just taking space on your permit until your renewal.

Thanks for your reply, that?s kind of how I was looking at it. If it goes to a private party via an FFL or a dealer with FFL it gets removed from any liability on my part. Doing the modification through the SSO, would cost something for the modification achieving the same outcome. No liability on my part, as I no longer legally own the firearm.

Why not email your IA?

If the IA replies, then you have your answer.

If the IA does not reply, then you have documentation that you tried to get the answer.

Either way, if that gun is involved and identified, I'd assume you will be hearing about it from a couple guys in suits, driving a Crown Vic (or I guess a Malibu now or Explorer?). Dot those T's and cross those i's.

I've heard from OC that you have to remove it from the permit First, before selling it
