CCW Background Question

Looking for some advice, or information from anyone that had a similar situation.
I recently started my application but did not submit due to the question on the application asking for any arrests, regardless of outcome. I remembered being arrested as a minor (16), which was over 20 years ago, but could not fully recall what the charge was and did not want to withhold any information that could lead to a denial.
I did my own live scan for record review and found the charge of 417 (A) PC- EXHIBIT DEADLY WEAPON: NOT FIREARM.

I believe these records were supposed to be expunged but regardless, my question(s) are, this information should be provided on the application, even considering time passed and being a minor at the time? Has anyone had a similar situation and how did your CCW experience go?

2) What made you believe that your record was expunged? Please note there is no truth to the urban legend that juvenile records are sealed once you become an adult.

3) The answer to (2) doesn't matter much. Even if your record was expunged, the juvenile detention still remains on your record and your IA will see it during your background investigation.

4) I've never been involved in the processing of CCW applications, however anecdotal reports on this forum suggest that you may be issued a CCW if the events described were 20 years old and there has been no other adverse information in your record.

I listed being arrested for doing donuts in a gravel parking lot when I was 16 or 17 OP. It was NOT expunged and yes they knew about it. Any contact you've had with law enforcement good or bad, just list it all.

I had some pretty wild times as a teenager growing up in the 70's. then I joined the Marines and the fun never stopped. I'd still be writing if I listed every contact ever with LE, but I get your point.

There are some things that happen in one's life that are never forgotten, at least not by a normal person.

It's interesting that you ran a pre-application Live Scan. It suggests you were wondering what you could avoid disclosing.

The answer is, disclose everything, even if you somehow forgot all the details...get the gist of it down on the application if that is all you can remember. And be prepared for denial, which you'll need to disclose forever in the future, so do ponder applying carefully.

I did a pre app live scan to be more thorough and include this old charge. It was so old I could not remember the official charge and did not want be vague or exclude any information. Now that I see what it is, I was curious if anyone had a similar situation that was successful in their CCW process.

I vaguely recall a conversation with the judge mentioning the charge would be expunged. Either way, I assumed the IA would still be able to see everything, expunged/sealed or not, they see it.

I will definitely list everything, just curious if anyone had a similar situation and was successful in their CCW process.

Absolutely. I had a LOT of minor stuff in my 20's, I listed everything I could remember down to whatever details I could remember. I did include a "disclaimer" that basically said I was young and stupid, no excuse, but if I forgot something please understand it was out of a slip of memory and not an intentional failure to disclose and that if I did miss something please refresh my memory and I'll come clean. I guess I gave them enough that they were satisfied. I mean it was 30+ years, they understand and I think they honestly just want to know you are a responsible adult, not an angel.

I was hired as an LEO at 20 and they were aware of every dumb thing I did as a minor. Minor in possession of alcohol at 17. I just listed everything and everything matched up. Had badge and gun before 21.
