I tried to post this in the FFL section, but have been restricted for some reason. If you have an FFL 07 and purchase a handgun, can you register that specific handgun as a CCW for your business/personal use? Or do you need to go through the 10 day DROS? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Not really.I tried to post this in the FFL section, but have been restricted for some reason. AFAIK...
Firearms acquired by a FFL are part of the FFL's inventory and are not owned by the person who has the FFL.
^The business owns it as inventory and can use it for business purposes. The person who has the FFL does not own it and is not spose to use it for personal purposes.
For a transfer from 07-FFL inventory to individual that has the 07-FFL, so the firearm can be registered to that person in AFS:
1. The 07-FFL must also be a CA FFL dealer.
2. The 07-FFL must log the firearm out of their bound book to themselves.
3a. If the transfer occurs within a year of the FFL acquiring the firearm, then an ATF 4473 must be done.
3b. If the transfer occurs more than a year after the FFL acquires the firearms, then an ATF 4473 does not have to be done.
4. The 07-FFL must submit a CA DROS to report the transfer from the FFL's inventory to themselves.
If the firearm is a handgun, then it must be listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale or be exempt from it (C&R, OTP, SAE, SSE2).
If the 07-FFL is not a CA FFL dealer, then the firearm must be transferred (4473/DROS/10 day wait/1 in 30 day wait) through a CA FFL dealer.
^07-FFL delivers firearm to CA FFL dealer, who then transfers it to the individual.
~This is not considered PPT, so if the firearm is a handgun, then it must be listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale or be exempt from it (C&R, OTP, SAE, SSE2).
The individual that has the FFL is not considered an exempt person and any handgun they acquire for themselves must be on-Roster or exempt from it.
The FFL is considered exempt and can legally acquire CA legal off-Roster for their inventory/business purpose (e.g. sale to exempt persons, etc).
^The firearms are legally owned by the FFL, not the person who has the FFL.Last edited by Quiet; 07-31-2023, 4:28 PM.sigpic
