Rumor: background check good only for 90 days?

I'm hearing, from the classic 'little bird', that some agencies may be putting a 90-day valid-date on background checks.

If your appointment with your issuing agency might be more than 90 days after your background check, it might be interesting to call the IA about that issue.

But as the title says, today it's just rumor.

Those who call might, if they were so inclined, post the answers to inquiries in this thread.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

That would seem to conflict with the statute for prompt notification...
    Penal Code 26205
The licensing authority shall give written notice to the applicant indicating if the license under this article is approved or denied. The licensing authority shall give this notice within 90 days of the initial application for a new license or a license renewal, or from the Department of Justice, whichever is later.
One would think that the "interview" would need to be completed prior to the approval of the license.

I have a head cold and don't follow. I believe the rumored problem arises when the live scan is done more than 90 days before the interview. Some agencies consider one older than 90 days to be expired and require tou to resubmit the attendant fees. If this is true of your IA, you may want to hold off on requesting a scan until a date nearer in time to your interview to avoid anoter roller fee and the three clearances (DOJ, FBI, and Firearms).

The argument against delaying a live scan is that some applicants believe interview dates have advanced by some IAs upon completion of their scans.

      Go figure.
