    Pocket Pistol Carry Recommendations

    Hi,

I carry a 9mm Shield in AIWB but wanted to try pocket carry. The only on roster pistol I've seen that interests me is a P238 in 380, but I'm hesitant as it also has an external safety. I think the LCP Max is my best bet, but I'll have to hunt for one and buy through PPT.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    My pocket carry guns are:

    1) S&W 442/642
    2) Ruger LCP
    3) Seecamp 32

My EDC is a Ruger LCP Pocket Carry.

There’s the LCP. I hear the LCP II is better though.

The P238 is great if you train to remove the safety.

        DolphinFan,

Thanks for your suggestions. I think the Ruger LCP is up my alley. Have you been able to put on different sights or modify the trigger? I've read the LCP trigger is very long and heavy.

It really depends on the pants you wear. I cannot draw any sort of small semi auto out a a typical pocket holster as the rear of the slide catch on the inside top corner of the pockets. Something tiny like a Seacamp may work but I havent tried that. What does work for me is a 642/442 in a leather Galico pocket holster.

I pocket carry around the house. Ruger LCR, and Kahr CW380.
              Desantis Nemesis holster for both.
Tried pocket carry for the Shield, but just a little too big.

Sig P365 SAS is just great. P365 will also work fine.

For me the Kahr PM9 is perfect. The long and strong double action pull is a great safety feature and it is the smallest proven 9mm package out there. It goes boom every time and I shoot it accurately.

I tried PM9, but the pull is way too long, in my opinion. The gun size was just perfect for the pocket carry, tho.

The pull is certainly long but perfectly consistent across the entire pull range with no catch points. Practicing with it actually improved my shooting with all my other guns, because the long pull forced me to maintain sights on target while pulling the trigger, not knowing when the striker would fall. Shooting a Kahr (any Kahr) is one of the best tools in my arsenal for perfecting trigger discipline.
