Assistance with CCW "good cause" statement

    Hi all,

Firstly, I've been reading a lot on this forum and am sincerely appreciative. I'm new here, but it's been helpful. Thank goodness for the YT video I found which recommended it, otherwise I'd be so much more lost than I already am lol

I'm submitting my CCW application and am a bit anal retentive about things. I want to get it right the first time (I really do feel the need for a CCW). If it is not too much to ask - and certainly let me know if it is - I'd appreciate it if someone with some experience could review my good cause application. If so, I'd prefer to submit it via private message.

Please let me know and thank you

This would depend on your county.

To begin with welcome. When asking about a GC requirement always be sure to state who your issuing agency is. Each IA has a different standard.

"I really do feel the need for a CCW" <---- You should discuss why you do really feel the need for a CCW.

Your county really does matter. In my county the Sheriff only wants to see 2 words: self defense.

First and foremost....the Good Cause must be YOUR Good Cause, not something you cobbled together from the Interweb. If you get to an interview, and you used an Interweb Special type Good Cause, it is doubtful that you will be able to articulate that Good Cause to the interviewer.

Just write down your reasons for a CC permit. It does not need to be long or eloquent...just your reasons. Of course, spell check and grammar check are good to use. Be neat if hand written.

            Good luck.

Note that there are county specific boards at the linky below. You're probably better off asking your question on your county's board, as those folks are going to be far more familiar with you Issuing Agency's (IA) policies and process. It will just be speculation from the rest of us who don't actually live in your county.
