Aftermarket trigger replacement on CCW go/no go?

I just submitted my application for a CCL to the Riverside County Sheriff.

One of the firearms on my list is a S&W SD9 VE. I shoot well enough with it at the range, but I measure the trigger pull to be around 8-8.5 lbs on it after about 2,000 rounds down range. The wall is almost non-existent and it's spongy.

I can learn to live with it, but I'd like to get an Apex Tactical trigger enhancement kit for it, but I'm wondering if I will be able to use this gun on my license if the trigger is replaced with something non-factory.

Does anyone have experience with RCSD and/or modified carry weapons that can comment on the likelihood this will be an acceptable change on the firearm? I hear mixed reviews about this issue, but usually not directly from the individual involved.

Trigger mods aren't allowed by Riverside County Sheriff. They do allow red dots though.

I've been reading mixed responses to this question on the internet. Can anyone point me to any language from the riverside county sheriff that confirms this? I looked through my application packet and didn't find anything, also just searched for it and only forum posts came up with varying statements and no backup.

I'd buy a better gun with a better trigger, before I would monkey around with the trigger in my carry gun.

I'll bet your IA would agree...

Just call and ask or send an email.

Better to hear directly from your IA as to what they allow.

Although I do agree with this sentiment:

            But it's not a mod, it's a repair.

The OP's trigger broke, so he had it replaced with the very best trigger money can buy, because, obviously, safety first. Those Apex triggers are very reliable, well made -- actually better made than the factory triggers.

I was very sad to hear that the OPs trigger broke. That trigger was like an old friend. But everything passes in time, right? On to the future.

Very sad. Again, my condolences to the OP on the loss of his trigger. I hope nothing else breaks!

It was not repaired using factory parts, so it's considered a modification.

Trigger pull weight can not be less than 3 lbs.

                            trigger job question

Does it make any difference if the trigger job is done before you qualify with the gun on a new CCW?

I'm looking to purchase a subcompact, and found a Shield 9 with a trigger job (and more). Would they inspect it and note the modification? Or turn it away outright?

M&P Shield 40/9Comes with original .40 S&W Barrel and a SS True Precision 9mm barrel3 magazines total (9mm)Appex TriggerIWB Kidex HolsterPlease TEXT me 619-315-8517

                            Thanks in advance!
