ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.

At the risk of stepping into the Captain Obvious role, this thread will only be useful if it is kept updated. If CalGuns had the Wiki feature enabled, it could be a community effort, but only the OP and moderators will be able to update the first post.

That said, I think you should broaden your criteria instead of using the presence of screening hardware as your only factor. A person could be troubled even without the presence of said hardware.

For example, one can carry at LAX in non-sterile areas. However, one is prohibited from carrying concealed anywhere on the airport property at SNA. While there are obviously metal detectors at SNA (TSA runs them), they are only for people going airside. One could still have a problem if they were found to be carrying in non-sterile areas, and certainly a person might think something like "OK in parts of LAX, an airport in hostile-to-CCW LA County, so probably OK at SNA, an airport in friendly-to-CCW OC..."

In any case, another example, Segerstrom Center prohibits firearms, even when carried by off-duty LEOs. No metal detectors (at least not yet), but they do screen bags coming in, and at least some of the screening personnel were on the job at one time (i.e., possibly heightened awareness of what someone concealing a weapon might wear/do). In a perfect world, anyone attending a show there would first check to see what the policy concerning CCW might be, but wouldn't that be a good use of the thread? In other words, to increase awareness that there is, in fact, a policy in place? Of course, people can choose to obey or disobey the policy as they like.

I would also suggest that you require a reference. In other words, just because someone posts in the thread that such-and-such a place is CCW-unfriendly or CCW-illegal, let them back it up with something in writing.

So the red X means no detectors, or no CCW venue?

This isn't a legality thread. There is already a sticky for that.

Green means ccw good to go. Red means ccw not good to go.

And 'sticky' is an ask-a-moderator thing.

Let's see how the thread goes.

No dice @ Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain

Discovery Cube in LA and OC are GTG.

I would add Fresno Chaffee Zoo is good to go.

Does anyone know about Gilroy Gardens?

Additionally, it would be helpful to add the equivalent of 'this was the policy on month/day/year'; things change, mostly to more restrictive.

Should also add Downtown Disney. Can’t even get on to the grounds without going through metal detectors
